Michonne noticed how unstable she’d become all of a sudden. She took one last look at the events folding out in the field before following Audrey.
The drive back was even more dead than the drive there because of Audrey’s horrible change in attitude. Obviously Michonne would have no choice but to report this behavior to Rick. She liked Audrey well enough to put in a word that she was helpful enough even if it wasn’t necessary.
But obviously, the fact that something even remotely weird happened with Audrey won’t help the doubt in everybody’s mind.
Michonne drove up into the prison and Glenn opened the gate for them then closed it to keep the walkers out. He held a lantern that Audrey had provided them with, among a few others, in his left hand as he walked over to the car.
Rick, Daryl, Maggie and Carol came out to greet the two but Audrey just got out and ignored everyone. She went inside the prison and left it at that.
“Take it, it didn’t go well?” Daryl said after looking back at Audrey.
“What happened?” Rick asked.
“It was the governor. He was collecting walkers.”
“What happened with Audrey?” Carol asked, concerned.
“She saw a woman and got antsy.”
“Antsy as in how?” Daryl asked in an annoyed tone.
“She got touchy. Quiet. Angry.”
Rick nodded and went back inside with the rest of the group.
Carol looked to Daryl. “You don’t think she should be here, do you?”
“I know she was doin’ fine before she came along with us. And so were we.” Daryl looked to her.
“She wasn’t fine. She was alone.” Carol said quietly.
Daryl just looked at her then went on to his sleeping area at the top of the stairs. Maggie had already told Hershel and Beth about what Michonne had told them. Without much hesitation, Hershel stilted over to Rick’s cell with Carl and stood in the doorway.
“Is that enough to make you change your mind about her?”
“It’s enough to make me wonder why I even let her come in the first place.”
“You can’t just turn her away because of an attitude change Rick.”
“Now a days it’s enough to make me think things through more.”
“You’re always in such a hurry to see the bad in people that you’ve already overlooked the good. She hasn’t done anything wrong.”
“All I know is, there’s a connection to her and the governor and I wanna know what it is.” Rick walked past Hershel and went down to Audrey’s cell.
Audrey was in the corner of the bottom bunk, holding her blade, cleaning it with a scowl on her face and watery eyes.
“You gonna tell me what happened?”
Audrey looked up to Rick. “What?”
“Michonne says you got a little-“
