Carl, Audrey, Carol, Beth, Hershel and Glenn dug into the darker pits of the prison with the crying baby in hand. Some minutes earlier, attack came upon the peaceful day, and now with less manpower and fewer weapons without being ready for such a charge, they needed to draw inward.
Everything happened so fast. First the bullets, then the men pouring in out of nowhere. Glenn and Audrey closed off what they could, but it was only a matter of time before the walkers or the Governors men overtook them.
Carl turned a corner and bumped into exactly 8 walkers. They almost embraced him but Carol pulled him back and he aimed his silencer at their heads. Glenn then yelled and stabbed the rest with his dagger.
Audrey could hear the yells of certain men at their heels.
“We’re gonna have to split up. If we keep running they’ll get us eventually. We have to attack.” Glenn breathed hard.
The baby was insanely loud and in Beth’s ear. She winced and looked around. “What are we gonna do?”
“Rick and the others have the rest of the ammo and weapons. We need them to know what’s going on. It’d also give us an advantage. One of us has to go get them.”
This was one thing Audrey didn’t want to do. She wouldn’t leave. She couldn’t.
“I’ll go. I know where they’re at.” Carol said silently.
Audrey looked at everyone with pained eyes. Was this her fault? Was this the last time they might see Carol? Audrey almost turned away when her new friend put her hand on her shoulder. Audrey looked up and locked eyes with the widow.
“I’ll see you later.”
“Why is this even happenin’ now? The Governor and all.” Beth intervened.
Audrey grew cold and Glenn shared a look with her.
“It’s obvious.” Glenn stated. “Casey did this.”
To which Audrey closed her eyes, listened to the shouts, and filled with rage inside.
[Opening Theme]
“They’re quiet right now.” Audrey said as they sat tight after Carol found her way outside where Glenn and Maggie were trapped that one time. “You said something about fighting back. Let’s hear it.” Audrey urged.
“Right now, we’re just being pushed further and further in. We need someone outside. On one of the towers picking them off one by one.” Glenn whispered.
“And what about the others?” Hershel asked.
“Stand our ground down here. At least until Carol brings back Rick and the others.” Glenn said solemnly.
“My gun is still fully loaded. Besides…” Audrey glanced to the bag beside Glenn. “We still have those. The grenades.”
“It’s too risky to use these now.” Glenn spoke back.
“How else is this going to work? Even if Rick gets back in time, the whole town minus a few are out there. We don’t have a choice.”
