Beth and Michonne had been sent out to pick some apples from some trees near a clearing. It was a few days after Daryl and Audrey had been pinned down and everyone agreed that if something was going to happen, it would probably have happened by now.
Michonne had her guard up as usual, but instead of standing around with a scowl, she sat in the tall grass and enjoyed the peace of nature. Beth was choosing some ripe apples to bring back to the prison with her basket when a cool breeze blew through.
Beth closed her eyes and remembered her life on the farm, growing up, before the bad things started to happen.
"Pretty isn't it? I remember when I was younger, Maggie and I used to pick apples and bake pies for my family." Beth looked to Michonne who returned her comment with a smile.
"It sure is the right time for it." She said warmly.
"With the supplies that Audrey brought with her, we'll be able to make some good pies." Beth said back.
Michonne nodded and continued to look around. Suddenly, she heard a twig snap. Beth was about to say something else when Michonne shushed her and grabbed the handle of her sword.
Beth looked around with a frightened and determined stare. "What's wrong?"
"Heard something over there." Michonne stood and looked in the woods. A walker then showed itself and Michonne just scoffed and walked over, pulling out her mighty blade, and sliced off it's head. Beth just cringed with tired disgust. Michonne turned around. "We better get back. Looks like you have enough."
Beth nodded, picked up her basket, then turned back and looked a little pale in the face.
Michonne's face hardened with curiosity then looked behind her to see a whole herd of walkers coming out of the woods behind her. Michonne held her sword out and looked around desperately.
She turned quickly and ran to Beth. "Come on! We gotta go." She ushered.
Beth tried to take the basket but Michonne told her to leave it as more and more walkers started to crawl out of the woods. Their dead growls echoing toward the two humans, and their desperate limbs reaching for them.
They started to block the way out of the field that would've led them back to the prison, so Beth looked back further in the woods past the apple trees. "Come on! This way!" Beth yelled to her companion. Michonne looked away from the threat and followed the young blonde into the woods.
With walkers all over the place, they had to keep running, deeper and deeper into the forest. Downhill they fled, dodging trees and zombies on their sides. Beth turned around to see if they were still close behind them when Michonne saw her fall off a somewhat high cliff. Michonne reached out, but when she did, she rolled down the hard wall with the teen, finally hitting the muddy stream, both landing on their stomachs, unconscious.
[Opening Theme]
Everyone was outside in the afternoon sun, waiting.
"It's been at least 2 hours." Maggie said. "They shoulda been back by now."
"Do you think something happened?" Carol asked Rick.
"Look, Rick, I'll go out myself and look for them. I know where the Apple Trees are."
"If they aren't there what then?" Daryl looked at Audrey who volunteered to search for Beth and Michonne.
"Come back here and tell you? Or stay and look for them. Everyone's thinking the same thing. The Governor probably got them. Or the usual. Walkers." Audrey said to the room.
