Audrey pulled on some pants and shoes along with a black t-shirt and her bandana tied around her wrist, then braided her hair back and swept her bangs to the side. She left her back pack and put on her dagger and gun belt, then walked down the cells to the room they had started to use as a cafeteria.
She walked in to see Hershel, Maggie, Beth and Carol eating some cereal.
"Oh. Bout time you got up. How'd you sleep?" Carol asked as she walked over to the other table and got a bowl and spoon for the newest member of the group.
She walked over and sat down. "I know. I slept in. I just couldn't get to sleep last night." Audrey sighed. "Crazy right?"
"There are dead people walkin' around. Nothin' crazy about not bein' able to sleep." Hershel said kindly to her.
Audrey looked around and took a bite of her food. "Where's the rest of them?"
"Went down in the lower levels to clear way to the cafeteria or the boiler room." Carol answered.
Audrey looked to Beth, then to Carol. "What for?"
"In case we need to hole up down there." Beth answered shyly.
As she finished the sentence, all of the members came back up and into the breakfast room. Bloodied here and there, but mostly sweaty, they walked over to two water jugs.
"How is it down there?" Carol asked.
"Place is crawlin' with walkers. We didn't even make it past half of em'." Daryl responded.
"Where do you think they're coming from?" Audrey asked.
"We sealed up a lot of the gate, made sure it was secure but, that guy Tyreese told us there was a gap in the fence at the back of the prison. They're probably getting in from there." Glenn responded.
Audrey bit her nail and continued to eat slowly. She sighed, pushed away her food, got up and walked out.
"Aren't you gonna finish?" Beth asked.
"Lost my appetite." Audrey responded as she left. She really did lose her appetite. She didn't mean to be dramatic, but she had to go take watch anyway. And it was a perfect time to think some things through.
Until recently, she didn't have to think about crossing paths with her. She chose her way; Audrey was left to choose hers. But, now that she had a side, allegiance with Rick and his group at the prison, and they were at odds with the Governor, where would that leave Audrey? Conflicted? No. She hated her. She hated the
woman on the Governor's side. Why? Multiple reasons. Too many to keep a calm mind at the moment. Audrey had a lot of hate inside her covered by good moods and a happy face. But inside, she was crying.
Without knowing it, she'd become something of a fake. However, as much as she tried to get rid of it, her feelings of love and hope just couldn't go away. She hadn't loved anyone in a long time, and thought she'd gotten rid of them. Disposed of them like a used rag. But, she was starting to feel attachment to everyone around her. Especially Daryl. She was starting to be able to call this place and the people in it, home.
And, what a wonderful thing that is for someone who is alone. Friends who are like family, all living in a place they can be comfortable enough to call it home. Especially in a world like this when everything is fading and crumbling away. Its all disappearing. Will the earth and walkers consume what was left of the human race?
