Rick and the others closed the doors to the cafeteria, found a metal bar and put it on the doors handles to keep it closed in case any walkers found out they were inside. Rick and the others had outrun them, but couldn’t keep it up for much longer.
“Where’s Maggie and Glenn?” Daryl asked as Carol made him rest on a chair. The baby was crying a bit and Beth was trying to calm her down. A bit of formula helped.
Rick looked and noticed they were gone.
“They had to go the other way. Into the boiler room.” Hershel said. It made sense he knew where they went. He was the last one to be able to see given his leg and all.
“Well, then we have to go back.” Carl said.
“I know. I know. And we will.” Rick said as he bent down to his son’s level. “We just have to wait a little bit. But I should go alone.”
“What? Why? I can help you.” Carl said to his father.
“You have to stay here. Take care of Hershel and the others.”
“But Daryl-” Carl started to argue.
“Is injured.” Rick said in a type of whisper.
“I may have been shot, but I’m not useless.” Daryl said. “I got this. You two go on.”
Rick looked up at him. “You sure.”
“Yeah.” He replied calmly.
Carl and Rick walked over to the door and listened until they were sure the walkers had passed. Michonne walked over to them and looked at Rick.
“You know I can help you too.”
Rick nodded. “I appreciate that, but you need to stay here.”
Michonne inhaled a bit and looked at the others. The samurai sword wielding woman squinted to the leader and nodded. She looked to Carl and put her hand on his shoulder. “You be careful.”
“Thanks Michonne.” Carl responded.
Now, it was just a matter of waiting.
Meanwhile, Audrey stopped to look at the town she had run to, and went ahead after catching her breath. It was well into the afternoon by now, and she saw the town was clean of walkers. However, the men responsible for this were still there organizing things with his men, getting them ready to invade.
She ran to the back of a small business and opened her bag. She’d have to find a good place to hide in after she threw the first grenade towards the forest that she just came out of. She didn’t want to cause too much damage because they weren’t sure if the place had been totally cleaned out of supplies for the future.
She didn’t want to get trapped in one building, so, she decided to throw it and run as far as she could into one of the houses she and Daryl were in.
Without further delay, she went to the end of the house and checked to see where the Governor was if he was there at all.
