I was in a tough place before I stumbled upon Carmilla on Tumblr, I'm kind of still in that tough place, but Carmilla has served as a much needed escape for the past couple of years. I honestly thought Laura was just another lesbian YouTuber, vlogging about vegan recipes and her new channel with her new girlfriend (she just met five minutes ago), y'know just little lesbian things, so I ignored the gifs. I'm glad I eventually caved a few days later and quickly watched the first few episodes of season one, because I not only connected with the characters, but the actors as well have left a long lasting impression on me.
LaF and Kaitlyn taught me something about myself that I struggled to figure out for years, they helped me finally put a term to how I felt inside, non-binary. Thank you for that little piece of sanity and reassurance that I'm not crazy for not feeling like I fit into a pink or blue box. It's relieving to know that I'm not alone and I don't have to choose one or the other.

Elise and Natasha, it's very rare for actors who play WLW characters to convince me that their characters are actually in love, and that they're not just two straight girls acting to earn a paycheck. You two portrayed Laura and Carmilla beautifully, I believed these two characters genuinely cared about each other, through not only the way you delivered the dialogue, but in your body language also. I look forward to following you in your careers individually and if we're lucky to see you two in another project in the future, together as well.

As a film student I'm aware of the extremely hard work and passion that needs to go into a media project, it takes a village. I may have bitched and moaned and nitpicked at things I didn't like about the show the past two years (out of love of course), but there was never a moment I didn't appreciate everyone involved. There were times when I disagreed with creative decisions and people in the cast/crew/fandom, but for the most part my experience with this show and fandom has been one of the most positive experiences in a fandom I've ever belonged to by far.
Thank you for providing the LGBT community with representation, especially lesbians because god knows we don't have many options that are still alive out there.
I'll miss Carmilla and Hollstein, but I'm grateful to have been introduced to so many kind and passionate people whose careers are only just starting. I'm thankful to everyone involved who made this little web series that could, possible. In one way or another you all have unknowingly helped turn shitty days better or said something relatable that made me feel like less of a dweeb, lol. Thank you for that.

I look forward to seeing what's ahead for all of your careers. I wish you all the best.

With love,

Kaylynn (dinahkorbae)
