Chapter 9

Around Christmas time...

Justin and Olive had their baby boy. He's now 6 months old. Jay and I have been talking like we used to before I left. When I woke up I realized I slept at jays apartment again. I got up and went downstairs.
" morning. Breakfast?" He asked
" I'm good. Not that hungry."
" well we gotta get down to the station soon so you might want to eat something." He said and threw a pancake at me.
" Jay!"
" yes?"
" you just threw a pancake at me."
" yeah I did now eat it and go get dressed we're gonna be late."
I took a bite of the pancake and walked upstairs.

At the station....

I walked in and Erin signaled for me to follow her.
" I'll be right back." I said to jay and he nodded.
" what's up?" I asked walking in.
" tell me that's the third night in a row you've spent at jays." She said
" I kinda have to sleep somewhere when gabby is with Matt, Brett is with jimmy and you're at my brothers apartment."
" hales I'm happy you and jay are getting back together."
" me too." I smiled and we walked out.
Voight came out and gave us our case and we hit the streets.
" where's Erin?" I asked getting in the car
" no idea. Text her see if she's coming." Jay said

To Erin:

Where are you we're about to leave.

From Erin:

I'm riding with voight today. Enjoy the ride ;)

To Erin:

I'm gonna get both of you

" we can go she's riding with Hank today." I said and he laughed. 
" so..." jay said breaking the silence.
" so..." I repeated
" are we ever gonna talk about us?"
" I know we've been avoiding the topic..." he cut me off
" you've been avoiding the topic." He said
" I know and I'm sorry I just don't want to get hurt again jay you know? I like you I do and I can see a future with us but I don't wanna give this a try if it's just gonna be a fling. My heart can't take that." I said
" I know you can't and neither can I. Hales I've been in love with you since the moment I laid eyes on you. I don't want this to be just a fling. I want the real thing. I want the future. I want the wedding, the kids, the house, everything and I want it with you. So can we do this now? After all this time can we finally start dating. Will you agree to be my girlfriend?" He asked
" yes."
" what?" He asked
" I said yes jay I'll be your girlfriend."
" I was expecting an argument or something." He laughed and leaned over and kissed me " but I'm glad you said yes."

At the scene....

" halstead where are you." Voight came over the radio
"Eta 2 minutes." He said. We pulled up to the scene and the guy was running towards our car.
" jay hit the breaks." I said and he did. The guy went flying over our car and the guys went to go arrest him. The guy tried to get away but ended up falling and Hank was standing next to me and we laughed.
" so jay told me." Hank said
" what?  When?"
" well he actually didn't but the body language between you two is really obvious." Hank laughed.
" like really obvious." Adam said
" so obvious." Erin added and we just laughed.
" you're happy?" Hank asked
" yeah. Really happy."
"That's what I want to hear."

Back at the station....

" alright everybody lets hit the bar." Adam said and we all laughed and headed out. Jay out his arm around me.  When we got to the bar justin was there with Olive and the baby.  He looked at me.
" it's about time my two favorite people got together!" He cheered and everyone came over to us
" justin what are you doing with your kid at a bar." I laughed.
" celebrating a relationship that should've happened a very long time ago. I'm happy for you hales. Jay you better take care of her."
" trust me I will." He said.
" hales I'm so happy for you. I haven't seen you smile this big in a long time." Kelly said giving me a hug
" thanks kelly. By the way how much longer til you put a ring on that finger." I said pointing to Erin and jay laughed.
" don't worry about me. Worry about getting a ring on your finger so I can become an uncle."
" and I want to be an aunt." I said
" you are an aunt. Did you forget about Justin's kid." Matt said giving me a hug.
" oh Matt the same goes to you. Why do you guys not want to get married. Your girlfriends love you not make it official." I said and walked away. I sat next to Justin and Hank and we drank. It was a good day and everyone was happy and celebrating and those are the days that everyone remembers forever.
