Chapter 30

We all headed to the hospital. Will brought Peyton and headed to work.
" jay, you're daughter." He said
" thanks. Listen Will, I know you've got two people on the table today but listen to me very carefully. Right now the only person's life that matters is Erin's. I've been doing this without Haley for 3 years i can do it til the day I die."
He nodded and walked away. Kelly was pacing.
" gabby can you watch her for a moment." I said and she took her from me
" Kelly kelly look at me. I am so sorry."
" this isn't your fault. It's Haley's. my own sister shot the love of my life. The mother of my child. Don't think for a minute this is your fault. You did what you were supposed to do getting Peyton out of there." He said and we hugged
" Erin's gonna be okay. She always is." I said and we both sat down waiting for some answers

A couple hours later...

Will and Rhodes came out.
" family of Haley Severide" Rhodes said. Nobody stood up.
" Jay, Kelly. Come on. We have to tell somebody".
" so tell all of us." Gabby said
They looked at me and I nodded giving them the go ahead.
" well Haley did have some complications during the surgery but she is now in recovery and should be doing just fine. I know you guys don't want to see her but maybe you should cal some other family member for her support." Rhodes said
" we were her family." Kelly said
" what about erin?" I asked
" she's out of surgery and in the ICU. We need to watch her for a little. She had some pretty good damage." Will said and we all put our heads down.
" when can we see her?" Brett asked
" the first person can come with me now."
Kelly and I looked at each other
" she's your wife kelly."
" she's your partner."
I nodded and followed Will into her room. I broke down immediately. She looked like there was nothing to her. But she was my best friend and I loved her.
" she's in critical condition, we had her on breathing tubes until about 10 minutes ago." Will said and I nodded. I couldn't take it I stepped out of the room and slid to the floor and just cried.

A month later....

Erin was out of the hospital and Haley was no where to be found. I was happy that Erin was alive.
At work...

" hey partner." I said
" hey how's it goin?"
" shouldn't I be asking you that? How you feeling?"
" back to normal. How's P did she get over that cold yet?"
" yeah finally. I thought I was gonna have to take her back to the doctor again."
" well I'm glad. Is she still sleeping over tomorrow night"
" if you're up for it."
" of course I am."
" best of luck. Hey I'm glad you're back Erin. I missed my partner."
" me too."
