Chapter Ten : The West Market

The Trio had made their way to the west market to find Lars and hopefully the second key as Gwen sighed in exhaustion, as the hot sun had beat down on them both tiring them out and frustrating  them. How do we even know what this Lars guy looks? like John said wiping the sweat from his brow to which Ashley responded, Its simple we can ask around I'm sure somebody knows where he is she said as they sat down to rest. Its so hot out here Gwen replied as Ashley reached for her Canteen, here you go you need it more then me she said handing the canteen to Gwen. You girls can rest up here I'll go ask around for this Lars fella John said before getting up and walking away, as Gwen had taken a few Sips of the drink and had handed it back to Ashley before speaking. Do you think that even if we find dad would he be willing to even come back? Gwen asked Ashley, swallowing the water in her mouth hard Ashley set the canteen at her side before turning to Gwen and whispering. I'm sure Slade will come back remember he blamed himself for the fall of Syracuse, if we have any hope of reviving the Order and taking back the island we'll need all the help we can get Ashley said putting a hand on Gwen's shoulder. John had returned a few minutes to which both girls rose to their feet as Ashley spoke, well any luck? she asked John who proceeded to take a drink from the canteen before smirking. We're in luck our guy runs a nearby market stall on the far side of the market he said wiping the water droplets from his beard, alright lets head over to that stall and get that key that is if he even has it Gwen said walking to the stall followed by Ashley and John.  Be wary these types of market dealers like to con and cheat if we are to have any success, we have to  make sure its the real deal John said as they walked to which Gwen nodded silently. The trio had made it to the market stall to which they found a relatively thin man, with a long beard and small glasses perched delicately on the bridge of his nose. As he didn't notice them approach at first  john had cleared his throat in annoyance, causing the man to quickly advert his gaze towards them as he spoke. Ah! welcome to my humble shop you guys don't look like you're from around here so let me be the first to bid welcome, the man said in a overjoyed tone to which Gwen produced a small grin. You wouldn't happen to be Lars would you? Gwen asked to which the name looked around before answering, it is indeed miss by the way that's a lovely sword you got there would fetch a hefty price indeed that is if your willing to sell.  Lars replied to which Gwen tightened her grip on the sheath of her sword before speaking, I'm sorry its not for sale she said to which Lars produced a small frown before resuming to his cheerful self. Very well is there anything here that would perhaps peak your interest? he said to which Gwen nodded to John who walked over, tell me Lars how much do you know of keys? John said to which Lars looked confused before speaking Well uh I know they are great at unlocking things, and are um shiny why do you ask? he had said nervously to  which Gwen had noticed a shift in the man seen moments ago, as now he was more timid and fumbling at his words as John continued. We are looking for a key that we have knowledge was recently sold to you John said to which Lars looked surprised, I've had many keys brought to me it isn't really a new deal. He replied sharply  to which John stepped closer to the stand well this is a very special key, A key that is relatively rare , A key that looks like this John said taking the other key out of his pocket. Ah! now it makes sense indeed yes I have that key was sold to me by a fella a few days ago, Lars said pulling out the key from one of the shelves. I need to authenticate it if you don't mind John said to which Lars then handed him the key as he started to examine it. What do you think John? they look exactly alike to each other Ashley said to which he held both the keys together as he suddenly spoke, This isn't the Key John said to which they both looked shocked. What do you mean? they look the same Gwen had replied to which John corrected them, No the keys are supposed to connect together this one does not John said demonstrating his theory to Gwen and Ashley who both gasped. What is the big deal trying to con us like this? John said slamming the fake key on the stand before staring down Lars. I'm terribly sorry but I'm afraid you aren't getting that key he replied before reaching under the stand, but before he could react Ashley drew her pistol and aimed it right at his head causing him to stagger back. Don't even think about it drop it now Ashley said before Lars let go of the rifle he had in his hand as John spoke, we are not ones to play games with now give us the key the real one we don't want to hurt you John said before Lars sighed. Okay alright here he said handing the Key shard to Gwen's open outstretched hand as Ashley stood next to her , Check if its real she said before Gwen proceeded to push the two keys together which produced a loud click. They are genuine Gwen said to which Ashley returned her gaze to Lars. It isn't wise to cheat us maybe next time, we can have a nice calm chat have a nice chat Ashley said holstering her pistol while John took Lars rifle. And maybe you'll think to put ammo in this he said before throwing the rifle in his lap, along with the money the key was worth with them acquiring  another key shard with them requiring three more.
