Chapter Seventeen : Good and Bad News

The Millano had been fully refueled and the trio was once again in the air still shocked over the death of James, as John was flying the plane to which Ashley sat in the co pilot seat before looking back at Gwen who was silent as he spoke. You okay Gwen? he asked to which Gwen looked up at him then back down to her sword, deep down Gwen had felt like she could have done something to prevent James's death but she knew to herself. That their mission came first and couldn't let what happened cloud her mind as John broke the silence , I know the location of the next key this one is by memory John said to which they both looked up. If you knew where it was why didn't you say anything before? Ashley asked John to which he sighed. Because I had hoped my hunch was wrong but judging from the journal, it's right on the money its in America he said to which Ashley then shifted her gaze as Gwen spoke. I don't get it what's wrong with America she asked to which Ashley also sighed as John spoke, the United States was the first country to fall under Templar control they initiated operation deadlock. Which purged the country of its assassin faction, he said to which Ashley continued. The American Assassin Order has all been destroyed with there being only a few renegades left, but not nearly enough to take back the country she said to which Gwen looked surprised. So that is the Templar Capital I take it? she asked to which Ashley nodded in silence before John replied, Indeed it is they even took to calling it The Kingdom such a disgrace he said with a disgusted  tone in his voice. When Slade vanished me and John were apart of a special ops team called Black Squadron, with orders from your mother to aid in supporting The Kingdom's liberation from Templar control. Ashley preceded to tell Gwen as she listened as John remained silent, we however failed their numbers were just too much for us as a last ditch effort Jade ordered a full retreat from the Kingdom. But me and John were the only ones who made out, she said to which Gwen sat up in her seat what happened to the others? she asked to which John turned around before speaking. Same thing that happens to most either they were killed or taken prisoner and sent to Callaghan, he said to which Gwen looked interested as she replied. Do you still think they are alive there? she asked to which Ashley looked on before speaking. They could be who knows but if they are they might not help us their fighting spirits have had to be long broken by now, but we must get them out of there all the same she said to which John nodded. And now the key very well might just be on their grounds he said to which Gwen looked at the journal before speaking, what will we do? she asked to which Ashley shrugged her shoulders to which John replied. I'll tell you what we'll do we're going to go to the Kingdom and get that key, he said to which Ashley jumped up before speaking alarmed. John we're talking about going over enemy lines that's their territory Ashley said to which Gwen added a counter argument, It is the only way to get the key what else will we have to lose we can't turn back now she said to which Ashley sighed. Fine but we'll have to hide the Millano's number signature or else it'll be a short ride over the border with their automated cannons we'll be shot down guaranteed, she said to which John replied. Actually I may know how to do that he replied to which both Gwen and Ashley looked confused as he explained, every aircraft has been outfitted with a number card for easy recognition on scanners even the Millano's number card the same for Templar aircraft  he said as Ashley spoke. Alright so we know that the Templars use number cards on their planes, so what does this mean? she asked to which John smiled. Well while you two were at the ruins getting the key I managed to steal one of their number keys they should really hide them better, John said to which Gwen looked astonished before speaking. Ah I think I get it now you plan to switch out the Millano's number card and then replace it with the one you took, Gwen said to which Ashley catching on continued. Thus enabling the Millano to register as a Templar aircraft and safe passage over the borders of The Kingdom she said to which John chuckled, see I have my moments don't I we can land in the water before we reach the Kingdom and do the switch and pray that it works. He said to which Ashley remembering the event in the tomb preceded to talk to him, John there is something you should know about what happened in the ruins. She said to which John looked over before speaking What did you two see spiders, some other creepy crawly shit , John said to which Ashley's face turned stern as she replied. John this is serious its about Gwen she has the gift she has eagle vision she said to which John grew silent before speaking, what do you mean Gwen has eagle vision? this is a joke right? he asked to which Gwen shook her head. In the tomb where we found the key I touched it and I guess it showed me some kind of flashback, where I saw dad place the key in the tomb she said to which John just stood silent. I do suppose that makes sense I mean Slade had the power too only fitting, that you would have inherited it as well he said to which Gwen responded. I didn't know that eagle vision could be an inherited ability she said to which Ashley responded, well no one knew it could be we very well might be the only ones who truly know well aside from Arthur himself. Gwen listen to me the Templars are afraid of Slade for a very good reason you see, your father has powers well the type of powers that the Templars are afraid of Ashley said to which Gwen looked confused. Wait so you mean to tell me that dad had magic powers? Gwen said with a smirk to which Ashley continued. Well not exactly you see when he and your mother made contact with the Apple of Eden, they managed to withstand its power for a shocking reason Ashley said to which Gwen looked surprised before realizing it as she spoke. They were descendants of the first civilization she replied to which Ashley confirmed, Indeed they were so instead of the Apple driving them mad and destroying them  like it had done so many others. It became attuned to them embedding its power in their genes and bonding with them thus granting them their many abilities, she replied as Gwen in shock then spoke again. Wasn't Desmond Miles also attuned to the Apple? she asked to which John replied, Miles? yeah he was attuned to it but he didn't get the powers from it that your folks did which is surprising. I never knew they never told me any of this not at all, hmm say What ever happened to him? Gwen asked to which Ashley responded. You see Slade and Desmond's father William they had some good history before The Assassin's fell, Slade lead a recovery team which was successful in recovering Desmond's body and brought it back for a proper burial she continued to which Gwen silently nodded as John replied. Okay ladies were nearing the landing water zone you ready to do this? John said to which they both nodded, Yeah lets make the switch and lets all hope that this plan works out. Gwen said to which they all agreed. With that John began to lower the Millano's altitude determined to reach The Kingdom and recover the fourth key.
