The Party

"OMG! You're going with Niko?" Bree asked, squealing like a baby pig.

"Yeah, I am" I lied.

Truth is, I was only doing this for Bree. She desperately wanted a double date, so I just had to give her one.

"I'm definitely doing your hair." She said, rambling once again about what to wear.

"Tada!" Bree said, spinning me around to face the mirror.

Like always, I was impressed. This time, she had given me a pink strapless dress with pretty white lace, along with some white wedges to match. My hair took a nice wavy look with straight bangs that were just above my eyes. It was simple, but still impressive. Bree, on the other hand, tied her hair up in the back, curling the rest of it. She had on a blue bubble dress with a black belt encircling it. On her feet, she wore black T-strap shoes, something I would probably kill for.

"Are you excited?" Bree asked, jumping around the room.

"Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?" 

It was kind of the truth, yet I wasn't doing it willingly.

"Wow. Here I was thinking you had feelings for Marc..."

I slightly blushed when she said that. I don't know why, but as soon as she saw me, her eyes lit up.

"Do you still like him?" she asked, becoming a little serious.

Just as I was about to reply, my phone rang.

'Hello?"

"Hey Cruz. It's me Niko"

"You here to pick us up?"

"Yep...Oh and tell Bree that Cameron said he has a surprise for her".

"Cameron? Thats his name?"

"Yeah... See you outside."

"Bye...."

I hung up. 

"Whats up?" Bree asked, back to her usual cheery self.

"Well, a special someone said they have a little surprise for you." I replied, smiling

"Really? Then lets go!" 

As expected, Niko and Cameron were outside, waiting for us.

"Does she know its a fake date?" Niko asked, whispering so that Bree wouldn't be able to hear hear.

"No." I replied, signalling for him to shut up.

"Isn't this just great?" Bree asked, coming over to us.

"Yes. Its the best" I said, trying best not to sound sarcastic.

 "You don't seem so happy." Bree said, looking at me and Niko.

"Uh...We um... How about we all dance? That'll surely get the party started!" Niko said, saving me from embarrassment.

Taking me by surprise, he grabbed my hand, leading me to the dance floor. Little by little, I gained confidence, twirling and jumping around to the beat of the music. Unfortunately, my wedges caused me to trip, landing me into the strong arms of Niko Hearthwell.

"Whoa there. Are you okay?" He said, gripping on to my hands.

Not exactly. From what I felt, I had twisted my ankle a bit.

Nice job wedges 

I murmured to myself.

"Want me to get you an ice pack?" Niko asked, putting a little bit of pressure on my ankle

I winced in return to the pain.

"N-no. Just... I need to sit down" I said, hobbling my way over to the chairs.

Just a few minutes later, Bree came by, all smiles, until she saw me.

"Are you okay?" She asked, suddenly worried.

"Yeah, it's just that my ankle hurts."

"Do you want to go back?" Bree asked, sounding a bit disappointed.

"N-no. I'm fine. You guys enjoy yourselves. I'll just stay here." I said, regretting being alone

Just a few minutes later, a dark figure started walking towards me, followed by a group of silhouettes. That's when the DJ turned the lights off. Curse you. I thought

"W-who are you?" I stuttered, trying to back up.

They only came closer, forcing me to back up against the wall.

"Get away!" I screamed, trying to kick them.

They only chuckled as each of them grabbed ahold of me, allowing their leader to inject my arm with a red substance. My screams were muffled, my eyes grew heavy. At one point, I could hardly breathe. There was one last voice.

"Sit tight. It's going to be a looong ride"
