Chapter 1 - Moving Day
"Hey Dreamers! It's Lola here again, and today is going to be an extremely busy day for me as I am finally moving to my apartment In LA!" I squealed at my camera.
"My boxes have been shipped already and my friends Will and RJ have them currently sat in their apartment waiting for me to fly over there and get the keys to my new place! So it's 8am here in wet Scotland right now and I am heading to the airport in a few minutes to catch my flight to LA at noon!" I continued.
"Now all I have to do is pack my suitcase into my dad's car and remember all of my visa and green card paperwork or this could all go tits up before it has even started!"
I quickly turned my camera off and uploaded the footage from yesterday onto my Mac-Book Air so I would have something to do on the 11 hour flight to LA, but also so I could upload it at Will and RJ's when I arrived.
"Lola come on we are going to be late if you don't come down with that suitcase of yours!" My dad shouted from the bottom of the stairs. I quickly shoved my laptop into its case and chucked all the chargers that were on the floor into my hand luggage along with all the other crap I had packed in my bag and did one last panorama of the now empty room with my camera as I said "Goodbye old room, I had good and bad times in here but I still will miss you..."
I turned my camera off once again, chucked it into my bag, shut my old bedroom door and headed downstairs to the car with all my luggage. My dad took my rather large suitcase from me and chucked it into the boot of the car before climbing into the drivers side.
I locked the front door and headed to the car, climbing into the passenger side. I took my camera out once again to film us leaving the house I grew up in.
My mum died when I was two and I had no siblings so it was just me and my dad growing up. I had other family like grandparents, aunties and uncles but they all lived down South in Bristol, so we never saw them very often...
My dad and I were extremely close and we told each other pretty much everything except for the things a father never wants to hear about his so called little girl, who is now actually 19. But I think it was because we were so close that he was more of a best friend to me rather than a parent, I mean I got disciplined if I was bad but not that severely and the punishments never really stuck because my dad took Pity on me a lot of the time.
But I was finally ready to spread my wings and live my own life and yes moving to the other side of the world may seem a little extreme but that's where my line of work is.
You see I'm what they call a YouTuber. I make video content and put it online and get paid to do so, I daily vlog my life which is pretty normal and boring but has gotten me a million subscribers and counting (so I must be doing something right) and I love each and everyone of them. But moving to LA seemed the right thinks to do so I could go to all the gatherings and meet all the others like me.
I mean there are British YouTubers but they have all mostly gone to the USA now as that's where it is all happening. So after arguing, tears, paperwork and then some more tears from both me and my father, I finally got a working visa and a green card so I can live and work in the states.
Anyway the drive to the airport was long and tedious as it was a weekday and it was rush hour still. But we eventually pulled up to the drop off zone of the airport and both my dad and I got out the car. I was trying to hold back my tears but clearly wasn't doing to well as I was already sobbing. I felt bad leaving my dad alone in our big house, but it wasn't like I would never see him again, I set him up a Skype account and email for him so we could stay in touch.
