I ran to the treehouse as I woke up late.

I saw Alfie standing while scrolling through his phone waiting for me. I ran to him while panting, "I'm so so so sorry. I overslept!"

He glared at me and continued looking at his phone.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I was up all night studying my final exam and I wa-"

"I'm just joking Fel. " he replied as he gave a me a big hug.

Within 15 minutes, we reached the park.

"Race?" I asked.

"Hell yeah." he replied.

I ran as fast as I could. I stopped running and turned around. I went to full speed and pulled my tongue out to annoy Alfie. He just smirked, a nice smirk.

Someone ran past me.

Without warning, I felt myself on mud. I tripped, on a stupid rock. I felt pain shoot through my knee. I stood up, and groaned at the sight of my sweatpants.

They are dead. Brown, sticky mud mixed with grass was all over them.

Alfie rushed to my side, his eyes blazing with concern. He nodded his head in a way to say, "Are you okay?"

I took his hand and ran to the perfect spot. His hand was soft, and my little one fit perfectly into his large hand.
It was like the last piece for a puzzle. I shook those thoughts off and sat on the ground.

We fall silent and I look at my hands. Alfie grabs my shoulders, and I fall into him, pain searing through my back. He turns, and hovers above me, smirking.

He kisses me gently, and I respond, our mouths moving in sync. His hands tangled into my hair, and he pulls me closer while I grab at this brown locks.

"How was it living without me?" he asked as he rubs my back gently.

"It was difficult, obviously. But I managed."

"I'm sorry I had to make you go through all of that."

It raised my left hand in his face showing off the ring,

"It was worth it."
