2 weeks has passed, and Ana is finally stable enough to be discharged from the hospital. Since mom was too busy to accompany her home and I was on a off day, I decided to take Ana home.
"Ana, we're home. Rest okay? If you need anything, call me. I'm always here for you. I love you." I said.
"I'll be fine Fel. University is going to start soon, so I'll need to get ready. I love you, thank you for everything." replied Ana as we hugged at the front door. I walked out of the house with a huge sense of relief.
I couldn't stay too long in the house to be honest. It triggers me too much with my past. Everything has changed, but some things just stays the same.
I was about 30 minutes into packing the hospital bag, when I heard the front door open and shut, informing me that Alfie was home.
"Babe where are you?" Alfie calls out as he walks around the house. "In the nursery." I shouted.
"Hey. How was your day? How is Ana? Sorry I couldn't accompany you." He asks. "It's fine. She's fine." I replied.
"Mum said we should pack the hospital bag early. You never know when you'll need it and then we don't have to worry about it," Alf explained, sitting next to me on the rug.
"Yeah, I know. That's what I'm doing right now Alf." I replied.
"Oi, what's bothering you? Is everything alright?" He asked. "It's nothing really, I'm fine," I said, trying to push away my worries, but Alf saw through it.
"I know you, idiot. What's up?" he said softly, stepping closer so he was sitting in between my legs, "You're only quiet when you're worried. And it's important because it's upsetting you," he smiled gently tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.
I sighed and slowly reached out for his other hand, playing with his fingers.
"What if I'm not a good mother?" I whispered, looking down at our hands. I heard Alf gasp as he squeezed my hand, making me look up at him.
His dark brown eyes looked sad.
"What? Why would you say or even think that?" He asked. I shrugged, feeling embarrassed.
"Hey beautiful, you can tell me anything," he whispered. "I guess seeing my friends with their kids, or even your mum with you and Imel."
I paused, "Some girls are meant to be mothers, I don't know if I am one of them." He kissed my forehead softly.
"You are amazing with children. Remember when we babysat Joey? And when we'd always bring Joey out?" he explained,
"And plus, Like the first time we visited Melissa. Right away you knew how to hold her and the way your eyes lit up when she cooed at you, was something I can't wait to see when you hold our little babies."
I couldn't help the smile that appeared on my face. I leaned forward and kissed his lips. I felt him smile against my lips before pulling away. I giggled when he placed his hands on the curve of my baby bump.
"Seriously, you will be an amazing mum, I know it," he smiled, "Our little kids is so lucky to have us as their parents."
"Oh shut up you. Thank you for that. You're the best, seriously." I say before connecting my lips to his in a loving kiss.
"Well I know that. Come let's pack, and with Christmas in like what, only a week, we have to get ready for Christmas." He added.
"Ah right. You know there's a possibility that we can celebrate Christmas with them already in our arms. I can't believe the twins will be here soon," I said, leaning my head on his shoulder.
Alfie kissed my forehead, hand rubbing my back lightly. "Ok, so what do we need?" he begun talking to himself.
"My warm pyjamas, of course." I said, earning a nod from him, "And an outfit for me to wear when we come home, maybe my jacket cause it's snowing." I watched as Alf picked up the items and put them in the bag, before going to the bathroom.
"And can't forgot toiletries, can we?" He joked, giving me the small bag.
"What about for the baby?" I asked, organising the bag.
I picked up a soft white blanket off the shelf and hugged it close to my chest. "I like the onesie with the matching hat," I told Alf, as he looked through the drawer.
"Ugh, I never see myself as mom. Seriously, never was in my plan." I said along with a chuckle. As I walked up to the book shelf, I saw the toys and books that filled it up. My eyes stopped on some items I hadn't seen before.
"Where did these come from?" I asked, looking at Alfie. He smiled and walked towards me from the other side of the nursery. He placed his hand on my lower back and kissed my temple.
"The little toy camera I brought when I was running some errands. I thought one of the twins would enjoy taking photos, like I did." he said, "And I couldn't resist this since Ava is our little princess." He picked up the little crown, running his thumb over the detail.
"I can't wait to see her wear it. I bet she will love it and won't want to take it off," you giggled, snuggling into Alf's body.
I rearranged the stuffed toys in the cribs and turned on one of the musical mobiles. Alfie quickly looked at me and he moves his hand under my chin, gently lifting it up to meet his dark brown eyes.
The man that I'm in love with since I was 15. The one who saved me. The most beautiful man in my eyes. The most faithful, passionate and devoted husband I could ever ask for. He is truly a blessing. I don't know what I'd do without him.
"I love you so much. Thank you for everything." I meet his eyes and smile at their warmth. "I love you too."
