     Chapter 3

_____________

The fat man sighed heavily into the phone, turning around ever so slowly he nodded once to the younger man in front of me.

I watched warily as the younger man took a step closer to me, roughly tearing the tape off of my mouth. I hissed as several strands of my hair were ripped out of my head along with the tape.

“You motherfucking pig!” I cursed at him as my hand shot up to my head, rubbing the pain filled area in an attempt to sooth it.

“You fucking bitch!” The fat man shouted, seeing my now free hands. He dropped the phone he had been holding and lunged at me with a murderous expression.

My eyes widened in fright as I panicked. I don’t know what possessed me to do what I did next, or how I had the courage to do it.

In a second flat I grabbed the gun off the younger man and without even realizing what I was doing, pulled the trigger and shot the fat man in the leg.

My eyes felt as though they had popped out of their sockets as the loud ‘bang’ of the gun filled the room. I stared with shaky hands as he slowly fell to the ground wincing and gripping his leg.

In a flash, I ran away from the both of them towards the door, not wanting to even think about what they would do if they caught me. Sadly though, in my quick attempt to escape I didn’t watch where I was going and stepped on the phone, smashing it to pieces.

“No, no, no!” I shouted staring sadly at the only chance I had of contacting anyone.

“What are you doing? Get her!” I heard the fat man shout.

I quickly turned around and aimed my gun at the younger man who was getting ready to sprint after me.

“Move and I’ll shoot.” I warned. My eyes wide and my hands shaking. I had no idea how I had managed to shoot the other man but I sure as hell knew I wouldn’t be able to do it again. I just hoped they didn’t know that.

“Put the gun down.” He said calmly, holding up a hand as he took a hesitant step forward.

“I said don’t move!” I shouted making him freeze mid step.

I kept my eyes on him as I took a few steps back away from both of them. I didn’t stop when there was a relatively large gap between the three of us. Instead I continued going back further and further until I stood near the steps.

I glanced at the one I’d shot and my heart dropped as guilt washed over me. He was lying on the ground clutching his thighs just above a deep crimson patch where I had shot him.

Keeping my eyes on the both of them warily, I climbed up the stairs and twisted the door knob, successfully opening the door.

I walked through it backwards with my arms still extended aiming the gun at him.

When I was through the door I slammed it his face and quickly inspected the room full of boxes.

There really was no door…

“No, no, no.” I raked a hand through my hair and looked up at the ceiling cursing my luck- “What the heck?” I asked out loud to no one in particular.

I blinked a couple times before realization hit me. Jumping in the air once I reached out for the piece of rope that hung on the ceiling.

When I missed it I tried again and again, after the third jump I managed to grip it tight enough to pull it down as I landed back on my feet.

I smiled in satisfaction as the pull out stairs descended from the ceiling, I was about to climb up the stairs when I decided against it, surely they would come after me at some point, and with me not knowing where I was, they had the upper hand.

Biting my lip an idea struck me, I licked my upper lip smugly as I ripped the bit of rope off, that way they wouldn’t be able to pull the stairs down.

Smiling in satisfaction, I left the bit of rope on the floor as a little cruel joke right before running up the stairs and pulling them up after me.

I looked around me at where I was now. From what I could tell this was the ground floor of a house.

I was in a corridor with wood paneling and dirty grey carpets. Deciding against snooping around I ran to the end of the hall, holding my shoes in one hand and the gun in the other.

The end of the corridor twisted to the left and joined into what I assumed was the lounge room.

Walking slowly I took in my surroundings. The walls were covered in white and green stripy wallpaper that was peeling downwards in several areas. The windows were hidden behind pages and pages of newspaper taped onto it, and that wasn’t the only thing covered in newspapers.

The carpet was even dirtier than it had been in the corridor, layers and layers of newspaper were laid on the floor covering up the worst of the stain I assumed. Along the walls were two love seats covered in old food containers, moldy bits of food and wrappers, and any area that wasn’t littered in rubbish had bits of couch fluff pocking out through large holes that hadn’t been taped up.

I scrunched my face up in disgust. How could anyone live like this?

Shuddering I ran towards the broken glass door and stepped out yelling ‘freedom!’ in my head.

But my victory dance was cut off short when I saw exactly where I was…

Nowhere.

There were no houses.

No people

No shops.

No cars.

There weren’t even any roads or foot paths.

The only thing there was, was dirt.

Dirt, dirt and more dirt.

I hate Life.

JESS: Sorry it's short, but the stuff that happens next needs to be in the next chapter 'cause stuff will be happening ;)

Also I decided against changing the cover. You all liked the current one more :P

And I'm thinking about changing the category, the story will be having a LITTLE bit of romance, but I don't think it should be in the romance category per se as i'm not going to base this story around it.

So what do you think I should change it to?

 Any suggestions?

Fifteen votes and I'll upload tomorrow if not you'll have to wait a few days ;)
