Chapter eight

Ruby's pov.

I leave and see the pained expression of my boyfriend. I wish I didn't have to leave but I must find out what this package is and why it is so important. Sophia is on edge and doesn't like what's going on. It takes half a day in a car even though when I had to run from this place it took two. I hope nothing goes wrong.

I can see Nathen is also on edge so I ask him some questions and we get to know each other a little just to ease the silence and the tension in the car. We arrive at the edge of the Shadow Death pack's territory and see Ethan with six other warriors.

Nathen and I get out of the car and see that Ethan is holding something in his hands; but as Nathen and I get closer I can see that Adan is in control, not Ethan. I don't know what to think; this could be either good or bad.

As I'm walking up to him Adan says, "I command you six warriors to go to the pack house and not say a word until I say so!" I watch the six warriors leave with worried looks on their faces. "Don't worry," he now says to me, "I have been saving my strength so that I could warn you of what Ethan had planned. I couldn't just let him do this to you even though he rejected you."

"I was wondering what was going to happen when I saw you were in control," I say.

"This is the package that was sent here. I am sorry about what it says, just know I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt you. Now leave and never return, for I can't keep control much longer. I hope you are happy and live a long life with your new boyfriend." With that he turns around and runs away. I am so confused but I know we have to leave so I tell Nathen I would drive the rest of the day to get back to our home.

While I'm driving I tell Nathen to open the box, and what is inside shocks me more than having a boyfriend did. There is a note, among a few other things, in the package. The note says, "When Ruby finds her mate, give her this, and if anything is to happen where Ruby is in another pack, send this to her. As for the necklace, it is a special symbol meaning long lasting love, and the map is to help guide her through tough times.

"Also tell Ruby she has a sister. I cannot say a name or where her sister is, for when the time is right they will find each other. I am sorry to inform Ruby that there is a power line in her family. Whether she accepts this or not, she will be a great fighter."

I want to cry, throw things, and just hide in a corner. I had a sister? My mom gave me up? Where is my sister? Where is my mom? Is my sister still alive? Is my real mom still alive? So many questions, very few answers. I'm getting tired but luckily we finally get back home.

My boyfriend comes running out to greet us. He hugs me and breaths in my scent to help calm himself down. I tell him everything, from Adan to the package to me wanting answers. "I swear I will find them for you, it hurts me to see you sad and hurt like this," he says.

"I know you will, that's why I love you."

"You do? I mean, of course you do, and I love you too!"

I laugh to myself, "I love you more!"

"Impossible." We walk to the house and I ask Seth if I could move to his room and of course he said yes so in about two hours we get everything moved and settled.

I lay down beside him and dream of the future with me and Seth, but it turns into a nightmare where Ethan has Seth by the throat and is going to kill him unless I go with him, and then my dream turns into me meeting my mom and her telling me she hates me and didn't love me and wished I wasn't born.

I wake up at two in the morning sweating, my eyes puffy. Seth stirs but doesn't wake up, I creep to the bathroom and splash water on my face. I am still terrified from the nightmare. While I'm in the bathroom when Seth gets up and asks me what's wrong. I walk back to the bedroom, sit on the bed, and tell him everything. I cry into his shoulder and he holds me there and whispers in my ear. He comforts me until I fall back to sleep in his arms.

He lays me back down in bed and the next day I jump at the smallest sounds and keep looking behind me. Seth notices and tells me that I am safe. The whole pack is on guard and he doubled patrols around the border. Knowing that, I feel safer and stop jumping so much.

I really hope Seth can find answers. Maybe another alpha got a similar note, because if I got a package maybe my sister did too. I run to Seth and tell him my idea. He agrees to look into it and goes to his office to make some phone calls to other alphas about the package to see if I was right.
