Chapter forty-three

Ruby's pov.

When I finished talking to Roman I walked back to the pack house. Then Elijah found me and told me about the witch and asked if I wanted to get my memory back. I asked what the catch is and it's that not just the good memories come back, it's also all the bad. I can deal with it, I dealt with the dream from the poison so I can do this. I nod for her to start and she starts chanting and I feel my eye get heavy. Soon I'm in a black void there's nothing here, then color comes and I see people gathered in a circle.

I walk over there to see a girl being yelled at and then start to be dragged away. Just when I thought that no one was going to help this boy ran I front of them and said to take him instead. The person threw the girl down and when I see her face I realized that it's me. Then the person that had me yelled at the boy and pushed him to another guy who held him still as I was dragged away to a pole in the middle of a field. I see the boy was still trying to escape but wasn't having much luck. I heard myself yell his name and that's when it clicked. That boy is Archer. They tie me to the pole and grab a whip. I watched helplessly as they brought the whip down on my back and heard my self-scream. Archer bit the arm of his holder and ran in front of me before the next hit could come.

Then a face I thought I wouldn't see comes out, it's Ethan. He walks over to Archer, grabs him, and then throws him out of the way. When Archer hits the ground he barely moves and is bleeding a little. Then I turn my head in time to see the whip hit me again and I heard my self-scream again. Archer tries to get up but is still weak from being throw. The next hit breaks the skin and my back bleeds some. Somehow Archer found the strength to stand up and start walking towards me again. They were able to hit me one more time before Archer reached me and he said he would die before letting them hit me again.

That's when the memory changed and now I looked just a little older and I was hugging Archer goodbye. His dad was there and taking him away, when the car was out of sight and the others were sure they left, they beat me and told me I would never have anyone else ever stand up for me. After they had beat me they left me there in pain, the doctor came later and made sure I wasn't dead but not much else. Then I felt as if I was being pulled back. I opened my eyes and seen Elijah and the witch staring at me. "Did it work?" "Yeah, I know who he is now." I don't know what this means though, what changed him that made him want to kill my mate and have me lead an army. "Well, what did you find out?" "That Archer wasn't always a bad guy if that's what you consider him."

"Really? I wonder what changed." "I don't know but now that you have helped, I hope your travels are well." "Wait, I want to know why the memories were so important and what going on." I tell her everything that has happened from the noted and stuff. "Can I help?" "I thought you only helped for something in returned?" "Well I haven't had much action in a while and I would love to use some more magic." "Sure, we have 9 rises of the full moon before the actual fight so right now we are just training and making weapons with poison that was used on me." "Ok, I could also help and make healing potions that help you all heal faster and since it's a potion not a spell there is no catch." "Then welcome to my pack."

Witch's pov.

I was just minding my own business when suddenly I'm being teleported somewhere. I haven't been called on in a long time. When I arrive I seen a man and that he was the one who called me. Once he told me what he wanted and what he had to offer, I gladly accepted. The stone he had was rare and was considered lost. When I asked he said he acquired it during travels. I walk with him and meet his mate who wants help with her memories.

I start the chant, the only I didn't say was magic is like a window dealing with memories not only will she see them but so will I since I'm doing the magic. The first memory was awful, she was being whipped and a boy was trying to help but not much luck. Then the next one was the boy leaving and then her getting beat. Wow no wonder her mind blocked all of this, and since it can't just block out bad it blocked out the memory of the boy. They wished me well on my travels but I didn't want to leave yet so I asked if I could help. Once they said yes I was excited and started giving ideas.
