Running Away From Nothing To Everything.

Chapter sixteen

Layla’s pov

I feel like I'm being hunted. Her mate tries to calm her down but it only makes things worse, and it feels like the bond between them is slipping. Then a man I thought I would never see again shows up and demands I tell Ruby the whole truth.

I try and make it sound like I don't know what he is talking about but I stutter really bad. I try to say I've already told her everything but then he tells me to tell her or he will. She looks at me, then the man, then back at me.

I tell her the whole story, and this really pushes her. She growls at me and takes a step forward. I try and take a step back. Before I can react I am knocked out and consumed by blackness.

Ruby's pov.

Christine tries to calm Sophia down but she can’t. Sophia nudges her out of the way and knocks out our mother. Rose, Christine’s her wolf, grabs me and I try and fight till I see who it is. She tells me that if I want any more information, we need her alive.

With that Sophia gives me back control. The guy that showed up looks at Christine like he doesn't like her but I don't know why. I sort of feel like I can trust him and that there is something between us. Seth volunteers to carry Layla to the car. I get into the trunk and get a piece of duct tape and one string of rope with tiny strings of silver to make sure she doesn't try and run off. I tie her hands together and duct-tape her mouth shut so she won't scream.

It seems to take forever to get back home. Seth carries Layla to the basement and ties her up so that we can question her later. I don't want to torture her or anything like that but we need answers and I have a feeling she is not going to want to talk.

If she won't tell me, I know that mystery guy will. I think about everything I said to Seth and go to find him; I need to apologize big time. I'm running around when I see something I almost couldn't comprehend. I see he has found someone. I run closer to find out who, and am heartbroken to find out it is one of the friends I had made in this pack.

He sees me and tries to say sorry but I stop him. "I am  longer your girlfriend." I feel my heart break. This is the second time I have had my heart broken and I am determined to not let anything ever hurt me like this again.

Seth's pov.

I carry their mom to our car and put her in the free seat when Ruby comes back with tape and rope. The drive home takes too long but for some reason my wolf is going nuts and telling me to hurry up. We get back and I quickly put their mom in the basement. She tries to scream at me but I just walk away.

I am walking around and keep feeling a pull to something. Then I see her. She is so beautiful... but why do I feel like this? I feel a bond to her. I walk up to her. She smiles at me and hugs me. I hug back, my wolf purring, when we feel Ruby's presence behind us, staring. I turn around and try to explain but before I can she says, "I an no longer your girlfriend."

I feel my heart break a little as I watch her walk away and head to the place where her sister is staying at until they are ready to go back to their pack.
