Chapter Forty

The big chapter! I will most likely end the book at chapter 50. Let me know who is your favorite character and you least favorite character. I will be revealing the mystery person in this chapter. Roman's pov.

I was in a deep sleep when I was awoken by a thud. I get up to find out what could have made that noise. I look outside and see a person on the ground and it looks like they have fallen from one of the trees. I put on a shirt and investigate. When they see me they try to run but the fall made them hurt their leg and I could tell they weren't going anywhere fast. "What are you doing here?" I feel this pull to the person but ignore it. "Looking for food, I was about to catch a squirrel." I couldn't help but stare. "You do know you crossed on to pack territory." They looked a little scared. "I didn't realize, I'll leave." "You can't, I have to tell my leader. The fact you were able to get through the border is a problem and the leader will want to know how you got here." "Fine but don't put me in a cell, I'm not an animal." "We don't treat anyone let an animal, now let's go."

"Can you help me walk? My leg still isn't healed all the way yet." "Of course." As I got closer I could tell they were female and the closer I got the stronger the pull was. I kept ignoring it think it was just another side effect from the full moon the other night. I took her to the pack house and rang the doorbell knowing that when the door opened I was going to probably get yelled at. "Who dares wake me up at 2:00 a.m. In the morning!" The door opened and I was met by a very angry Ruby. "Beta what seems to be the problem that you Had to wake me up." "I heard this lady fall out of a tree and on to our territory and brought her here so that you could question her.

She also has an injured leg." "First of all someone need to get the pack Doctor, second of all never wake me up again, and third of all what's this lady's name?" "I'm Haven." "Hello Haven, you can sleep in the guest bed room and I'll send in the pack Doctor to see to your leg." "Thank you. What's your name?" "I'm Ruby and I'm the alpha of this pack." "Really! I didn't know a female could become alpha I thought if they had a mate they became Luna even if they earned the alpha title." "I do have a mate but because I am stronger and other things I remain the alpha." "That's so awesome." "So alpha do you want me to put guards around the house?" "No I don't think Haven will cause any trouble, will you?" "No I think I like it here; I hope I can become a member." "See now we can all go back to bed as soon as the doctor has a look at your leg." There was agreement with all of us, I knew that I would probably have extra training or something for waking her up early.

Haven's pov.

I was wondering the forest with my stomach growling like a bears. I catch the scent of a squirrel and started going after it. I was almost able to catch it but when I jumped to the next tree the branch broke and I was suddenly falling. I hit the ground hard and I felt pain shoot up my leg. A minute later a here a door open and close. This guy started talking to me, luckily he was a werewolf too. He said I was on pack territory and I silently cursed myself. I was so busy chasing the squirrel I didn't notice any other senses. He told me he had to take me to his alpha. I said ok as long as I'm not in a cell otherwise I could never escape.

He helps me walk to the pack house and for some reason I can feel a tingling sensation when I was holding on to him. He looked worried when he rang the doorbell and I understood the moment when a female voice boomed. I could tell it was the Luna of the pack with all the power in her voice. The door burst open and there stood what a very angry woman. He explained the situation and I just stood there to make sure not to cause any sudden outbursts. She asked my name and I spoke up. She looked calmer now and said I could sleep in a guest bedroom and would have their pack doctor take care of my leg.

She said no to guards and I found out that she is the alpha not a Luna because she was better than her mate and so rightfully kept the title alpha. I was very amazed because I had never heard of that before. I told her I liked it here and hoped to become a member someday. The doctor visited the room and checked my leg he said as long as I don't any running for a day or demanding activities than my leg would be fine and heal within the next day.

Ruby's pov.

We had a nice day and pretended that we never even got that note. I even shredded the note to not have to worry about it. That night I fell asleep I had no dream just darkness. Then at 2:00 a.m. In the morning I'm awoken by my door bell and I want to murder the person at the door. I stomp to the door yelling at whoever was there and busting the door open when I see its one of my betas. I ask what's going on and stuff and see that he found a werewolf on our territory. Her name is Haven.

I let her stay in a guest bed room and had the doctor take a look at her leg. The doctor told me the news and I was glad she would heal just fine. I'm still curious like where did she come from, how did she get here, has she even been in a pack before? My mind is buzzing with questions and I need to go back to sleep so that I can check on the pack tomorrow. I also have to talk to Haven about this questions and if she really does want to join. If I keep getting more members our pack will be the biggest in the country.

I already have two betas and two thirds, I have a lot of warriors and protectors, and my pack is still growing. In fact, there is a female expecting pups in the next week adding more new members. I'm just glad I'm not in this alone or else I think I would go mad. I thought about splitting the pack in two but when I weigh the pros and cons I just forget the idea. I'll have to tell Elijah about Haven in the morning. I don't know how he sleep through all that noise but I'll wake he up in the morning. I went out for a walk since I couldn't sleep and it was already 3:30 a.m.

I was walking the border when a piece of paper caught my eye. It said, "You may know me once you hear my name but I don't care, I can't wait any longer. It's killing me to just watch you as you stumble blindly through not knowing what is going to happen. There is an army raising and I want you to be at the top, but your too weak with a mate. You may be thinking no I'm not I'm stronger with a mate, but answer me this if the enemy had your mate hostage and told you to kill another werewolf what would you do. 

I think you would kill another werewolf because the bond is too strong making you weak. If you didn't have a mate you would have nothing the enemy could use against you. My name is Archer and you have 9 rises of the full moon to get rid of your mate. Failure in doing so will result in one of you pack members dying every day after the deadline until he is dealt with. You may think me a monster but in the end you will see that this is for the good of us all. Happy hunting and may the moon goddess be with you."

I must have read and reread that note hundreds of times before the message sank in. I looked at my watch and seen it was 4:48 a.m. I didn't have much time to get back to the pack house before time to get everyone up. I had 9 months, why 9, what's the deal in 9, is there some special meaning behind it or random? My mind was racing with questions and theories. Where have I heard that name before? Why are they bothering me? What is their mission here? So many questions, such little time.
