To clear things up, throughout the whole story Ashley wrote down things about her life with Ethan and at the end of the story it's Ethan reading all of the things that Ashley had wrote down now 60 years later, as you can probably guess it's a pretty emotional time for Ethan because it brings so many memories back from when they first got together from when they split up for two years, then settled in together. And finally started a family. Also I decided to make it a happy ending cause why not:))
