2 DAYS LATERI was walking home from patrol when the amazing smell that was clearly my wife's cooking wafted into my nose. It smelled like chicken, some veggies, and something else. Walking in and into the kitchen, I was greeted by the sight of her standing at the stove. Jeans and a grey shirt, her hair pulled up and an apron on. I could vaguely see her stomach as I walked up wrapping my arms tightly around her.
"Happy anniversary, beautiful." I said kissing her cheek.
"Hey, handsome. Happy anniversary, go shower up and dinner should be ready." She said turning and kissing me lightly.
"What ya making?" I asked keeping her in my arms.
"Grilled chicken, rice, carrots, and some bread."
"Smells amazing. I'll be back in a few." I said kissing her.
Getting upstairs I took a fast shower after I changed into some jeans and a shirt. Grabbing her bracelet from where I had hidden it I grabbed it and signed her card before going downstairs. I still couldn't believe in a few short months I was going to be a father. One of our spare rooms was slowly being turned into a nursery but we didn't know what we were having yet so we were waiting to really finish it until we found out. Walking back downstairs I smiled seeing her rubbing her stomach as she quietly spoke to our child. She had just finished setting the table when I walked up and wrapped my arms around her handing her the roses I had bought.
"Have I told you how lucky I am to be your husband." I said
"These are beautiful, thank you, and I think I'm the lucky one. Now sit your sexy self down and eat."
BRIANNA POV
After our dinner, we sat on the couch watching some stuff. I grabbed the box I had the pictures in as I handed them to Paul. I took the pics and put them in a frame with a onesie that said handsome like daddy. I handed it to Paul trying to contain my excitement. I saw his eyes widen as he opened it before he looked up at me.
"Serious?"
"Mhmm." I laughed as Paul jumped from his seat pulling me into his arms. To say he was excited was an understatement.
"This is amazing, I love you woman."
"I love you too." I said laughing as he finally put my feet back on the ground.
"My gift sucks compared to that." He said pulling something from the shelf.
"Whatever it is I know it is great. You didn't have to get me anything though, having you in my life is good enough."
"Yeah, but you deserve it."
I opened my card and between the words on it and the small letter Paul had written I was about to cry. He was so sweet so amazing.
Brianna-
Thank you for loving me. I can't believe it's already been a year. I am so grateful to have you in my life. Thank you for giving me the greatest gift a man could ever ask for, your heart, and our child. I am so excited for the rest of my life I get to wake up next to you. You have made me a better person and I will never be able to put in words how grateful I am that you came into my life. Happy anniversary, I love you with all my heart and soul.
Opening the small box I gasped seeing a beautiful bracelet. It was one I had been looking at a few weeks ago while out with Emily and Leah. There were three charms on it, a wolf, one for a wedding, and a baby carriage. I smiled looking up at Paul as I hugged him tightly.
"This is beautiful, thank you."
"You're welcome."
3 MONTHS LATER
I felt like I was going to pop at any second. I was almost to my due date and Paul and I were pretty much ready and very eager to meet this little guy. His nursery was all set, we had a lovely baby shower that was nicely crowded with the pack; Cullen's and I had invited Kara and Tess. I had gotten so many amazing things and between the Cullen's alone we didn't really have to get anything for the baby. Paul and I had decided on a name, Emmanuel Caleb Lahote. We had chosen it by combining Emmett's name with Sam's for the first name and Jake and Jared's for the middle. The middle was harder so we ended up using Part of Jake and then part of Jared's last name. Currently, I was making some dinner while Paul was on patrol, it was probably his last shift for a bit; I was keeping it simple making some chicken and dumplings. Checking on the food I groaned feeling a sharp pain. I had been feeling them for a bit today but didn't think anything of it. At least until now as I felt something trickle down my leg; my water just broke. I immediately grabbed the phone calling Emily's.
"Hello?"
"Em, where's Paul."
"Out with Sam."
"Is anyone there he needs to get here immediately."
"What's wrong?"
"My water just broke, have someone find him and meet me at the Cullen's." I hung up jumping as I heard a swift knock on the door. Opening it I saw Emmett standing there.
"Alice saw it, told me to get you."
"Thanks."
Emmett picked me up running swiftly but carefully to their house where Carlisle was already waiting and ready. I noticed Paul wasn't here yet and was slightly nervous.
"It's ok, I sent Seth to get him, and he is on his way. He linked with Paul as soon as we found out." Edward said walking up to me and helping me to the bed.
"Brianna, would you like an epidural?" Carlisle asked softly.
"I'll be ok."
"Ok, boys leave, call for me when you are ready but get undressed and put on this gown, I need to see how far you have dilated." Carlisle said as they all left to give me some privacy. As I was sitting back down I jumped as the door busted open, revealing my husband's worried face.
"Are you ok?" He asked rushing to me.
"I am fine baby; he's just ready for his arrival."
"I mean is that ok, is it safe? You aren't due for almost another week."
"It is fine Paul, she is already considered full term, so the baby is fine." Carlisle said stepping back in. He quickly slipped on gloves and checked me. "Well, you are 9 and a half centimeters."
"What's that mean?" Paul asked
"It means a little bit longer and half a centimeter more and I'll be ready to push your big-headed son out of me." I said to him, gripping his hand as a contraction hit.
