We got to Dad's house safely...by some fluke of a miracle.
Shindo and CJ ran inside immediately, leaving me and Yixing alone outside. "You okay?" Yixing asked, intertwining his fingers with mine. "I'm fine...just afraid of blowing up at Gukju again..." I admitted, hanging my head. "You'll be fine. Come on." Yixing said, smiling down at me. His smile would be the death of me, I swear.
We walked inside, hand in hand, greeted by Gukju. "Hey Ara, Yixing." She cheered moving in for a hug. I took a deep breath and gritted my teeth opening my arms for the hug. "Get it over with quickly, just like ripping off a bandaid." I thought to myself.
I hugged her quickly and ran to the kitchen to greet my dad.
"You look so cute Ara...nice to know at least one of my kids knows how to listen to me." My father threw a slug at Shindo. I smiled, knowing I was the superior child in this household.
"Grandpa! Is my fish mounted yet?" CJ yelled enthusiastically. Dad stopped everything he was doing. "I knew there was something I was forgetting to do." Dad said, face palming.
Yixing joined us in the kitchen, boldly back hugging me Infront of my father. "Dad, wanna go fishing after we eat?" CJ asked Yixing.
Once again my father choked on air. He turned to me with wide eyes. "Don't look at me. I'm not the one calling him dad." I didn't realise how dirty that actually sounded until after I said it...
"I certainly hope not." My father said in disgust.
"What's for lunch?" Yixing asked, Changing the subject. "Homemade pizza." My dad said proudly.
We all sat down at the dinner table for lunch.
After we were through eating, CJ dragged Yixing out to the dock. Shindo followed along, most likely to try and shove Yixing off the dock and Gukju followed along as well for whatever reason, leaving me to help my dad clean up.
"That Yixing guy sure is a catch isn't he?" My dad asked me. "Yeah." I sighed romantically. "He sure is a hit with CJ. The sport really likes him huh?" "Yeah, it's like he's actually a part of the family." I smiled to myself as I rinsed dishes and Dad dried...just like when I was little.
"Do you love him?" My father asked a bold yet rather innocent question. I froze.
"I think so." I said after a long pause. "Does he love you?" "I dunno." I kinda liked but I kinda didn't.
"Does he make things feel complete?" My father seemed to be reading my mind. I thought about what I should say to my dad.
"Sort of...why do you ask?" I was getting nervous for some reason. "No reason...Just that I know something you don't know." My father said in a teasing tone. "What makes it okay to tease your child lime that?" I scolded my father. "I'm your father...it's my job to tease you." Dad bumped my hip with his.
I thought about what my conversation with my dad.
What could he possibly know that I don't?
