Ara's family.

Today's the day. Today is the day I get married. It's still so surreal.

I awoke in a very good mood. I walked to the kitchen and CJ had my breakfast plate sitting on the coffee table in the living room along with my wedding dress, still neatly folded in the box it came in.

"CJ! You getting ready?" I called out to my son, as I started eating. "Yes ma'am! I already ate too!" He called to me in his room.

I finished eating and grabbed my dress. CJ came out of his room dressed in a suit and had his hair gelled. "Quit growing up." I told him. "Are you getting dressed at grandpa's?" "Yeah. Let's go." I ushered CJ out of our apartment.

I called an Uber to take us to my dad's. We arrived and I was immediately dragged inside by my grandma. She dragged me to my dad's guest bed and told me to hurry and get my dress on. "Honey, I know the ceremony isn't supposed to start for an hour but I wanna hurry and get you ready so you have time to relax." "Is Yixing already here?" "Yixing? He said his name was Lay." I laughed. "He was probably nervous...His stage name is Lay. His real name is Yixing." I laughed a little more, slipping my dress on.

My aunt, Ruth, joined me and my grandma and she did my hair. Aunt Ruth was my father's older sister and was just as intimidating as him. She was about 170 cm tall, had very broad shoulders for a woman and was quite stubborn and demanding.

She brushed my hair roughly and with every stroke I yelped in pain. "I'm barely touching you! I don't think I've ever met a more tender headed kid!" "Ruth...She's adopted. She wasn't exactly blessed with a scalp of steal." My grandma rolled her eyes.

Aunt Ruth finished brushing my hair and grabbed a curling iron. My eyes got wide. "I can do this." I giggled nervously, gently removing the curling iron from her hands.

I quickly curled my hair and let my grandma brush it out.

There was a knock at the door. "Who is it?!" My aunt called out roughly. "Yixing's mother." I heard Yixing's mom call out in Chinese. "What?" Aunt Ruth looked at me in confusion. I got up and opened the door.

"Oh, Ara. You look so much prettier in person." She said, hugging me. This was our 1st meeting but it felt like the 100th. "She isn't even ready yet." My grandma said proudly, as if I was a product of her bloodline.

"Who is this?" Aunt Ruth asked me. "This is my mother-in-law." I said to Aunt Ruth and my grandma. "This is my grandmother and my aunt, Ruth." I said, introducing Yixing's mom to my family.

"I just went to check on Yixing and he is so nervous. He thinks he's gonna mess up on saying 'I do.' Can you believe all the faith he has in himself?" Yixing's mom laughed. I laughed with her. "I enough faith in him for the both of us." I smiled. "Well, I'm gonna go calm him down. It was great finally meeting you sweetie." "You too, ma'am." I hugged her as she left.

"None of that was Korean." Aunt Ruth looked unamused. "It was Chinese. Yixing is Chinese." I smiled innocently. "Tell me dear, are my great grandbabies gonna have Korean or Chinese names?" My grandma asked me. "We really haven't talked about kids yet..." I said as my grandma started my makeup.

As my grandma finished, there was another knock at the door. "Who is i-" Aunt Ruth started as the door was slammed open by my great grandma. "I tell you what Ara! CJ just gets handsomer and handsomer every time I see him!" She enthused. "And you get prettier and prettier. Quit growing up! You're making me feel old." She hugged me tightly. "You can say you're a great great grandma...You are old." My grandma said to her mom. "We are in Korea! Respect your elders!" My great grandma exclaimed.

The door was slammed open one more time and Aunt Ruth's daughter ran in the room, being chased by my dad. "She wanted to see her favorite cousin but I said no. Riley just doesn't listen!" My dad joked, picking up his favorite 3 year old. "Ara!" She yelled, running into my arms. "Hey kiddo! How's my best friend doing?" I squeezed her. "Amazing! You look so cute!" She cheered, running off. "Quite the attention span huh?" My dad joked. "She's 3." Aunt Ruth rolled her eyes at her brother. "Ara, you looked amazing...If she were here, she'd probably slap me but you look prettier than your mom did on our wedding day." "You know that was the last time I came to South Korea." My grandma said. "When did you move away from Korea?" I asked, remembering that she had lived here for some time when my dad was younger. "We moved after your dad graduated high school...he stayed though... Something about meeting the love of his life..."

So this was about 850 words before this little author's note...I think the last update for any of my books this long was a chapter in my 17 one-shot book (which you should totally check out as I am in need of requests.)
I am so close to finishing this one. I'm so excited...Of course I say I'm close to finishing but in reality I think I have like 10-15 more chapters lol

!!!!!!!!!!!!SSSSSSSPPPPPPPOOOOOOIIIIILLLLLEEEEEERRRRR!!!!!!!!!

I do write Ara and Lay adopting and I think I'm gonna spend about 5 chapters on them adopting and adjusting to having a child...I honestly debated on not including those chapters but then I read over them and they were to cute not to add in.

I'm gonna try and at least get through the wedding TODAY.

I wrote this while listening to Hey Mama on repeat lol
