Chapter 21

"Is she okay?"

"This isn't fair! We would've won! I'm calling for a rematch! One of the players obviously tripped her!"

"Ma'am, they were all a mile behind, no one would've tripped her."

"Then someone threw something at her! Please she needs this more than I do," I heard the couch beg and I slowly opened my eyes and saw a nurse kneeling down struggling with my ankle.

Where was I?

I looked around and saw that I saw on a track field and there were lots of people surrounding me.

Oh yeah...

How long was I out? It didn't seem very long by the looks of it. I felt a sharp pain in my ankle and I shrieked and gritted my teeth. I wish I would've stayed unconscious.

"She's awake! Hayden I was so worried about you. I thought that it was my fault," a voice said. I banged my head against the ground hoping to go unconscious again.

I didn't want that voice here. I didn't want that person here.

I felt someone kneel down next to me but I kept my eyes closed. She touched my arm and I yanked away quickly ignoring the pain in my ankle. My eyes shot open and I scowled at her.

"What are you doing here?" I asked coldly and sat up while struggling because the nurse was still cradling my ankle. I scowled at the woman who was kneeling down beside me. She wasn't my mom. I would never call her that again.

"Didn't Ben tell you? I'm coming to visit you," she said sweetly and smiled at me but I did not return it! How is she acting like everything's normal?

"Yeah I know but what are you doing here? At my meet? It was your fault! I would've won this if you weren't here! Why do you ruin everything?!" I shouted at her and people started to stare at me and I noticed Austin and Sarah among those people but I didn't care. This was between my mom and I.

"Hayden I'm your mother and I wanted to see you run-," she explained and started to have and edge on her voice.

"You are not my mom! You never will be!" I screamed at her and Uncle Ben ran over and grabbed my mom's arm.

"Come on, I'll show you the car," he said to her and led her away.

I sat there uncomfortably while everyone stared at me.

I barely even noticed them standing there because I was lost in my own world.

"Hayden? Sweetie where are you?" my dad asked, I pulled my knees to my chest and let the tears fall. I didn't want him to find him. I needed to stay in the corner and hide. He'll just hurt me like my mom did.

I whimped in the corner as my mom walked into the room with a beer in her hands.

"Aw you looking for sweet, little Hayden? I wouldn't even bother looking for her. She's not worth it," my mom sputtered out and laughed. Tears blurred my vision. My own mom didn't want me.

"She's worth more than you! Get out of my house until you're sober again!" my dad growled at her and I prayed that neither of them would notice me.

My mom raised her beer and hit my dad's face with it. He screamed and fell to the floor, glass and beer all scattering around. My dad's cheek was bleeding and he got up and dashed out of the room.

"I've got to find Hayden!" he yelled while running away. My mom just giggled. She was definitely drunk, and drunk moms are the worst moms.
