Chapter 5
I sighed as I tapped my pencil constantly against my desk. Our history teacher was lecturing us and Chelby kept giggling and flirting with boys in the desk behind me.
If you're wondering who Chelby is, remember yesterday morning when Austin adn Robw ere talking about Austin breakin gup with Chelby and that Zach liked her and stuff.
Well yeah that's her. I don't like her. She was also the girl who I ran into the first day.
Apparently she was dating Zach now.
I was slumped down in my chair when the teacher called on me.
"Uh what?" I asked. Everyone started laughing. My face turned red in embarrasment.
"Miss Shouse I know it's only your second day but please pay attention," Miss Robin explained and then went back to teaching. I sighed and then luckily the bell rang. I gathered my books and stood up.
"Ok everyone I won't assign you any homework tonight but tomorrow you'll have some so enjoy tonight while you can," she announced. I walked out of the classroom and ran right into someone.
"Watch where you're- Oh hey Hayden," Austin said and smiled at me.
What was that? He was about to yell at me and then he smiled at me.
"Uh hey," I said and smield back. He nodded at me and then walked away. That was weird...
I shrugged it off and then walked to my locker. I put my books away and got ready for my next class. Drama.
It was one of my extra classes that I signed up for. I liked acting. Just pretending all day is fun. I know I probably sounded like a 7 year old there but I don't care.
"Hey what do you ahve next?" a girl voice asked behind me. It must've been Sarah. I turned around to face her.
"Drama, you?" I asked. She smiled.
"Me too, and Alex, and Austin, and Tyler," she explained. I smiled too. At least my friends would be in the class too.
"So you like to act?" I asked. We didn't have to be there yet so I deicded to start a conversation.
'Um no I just like working with the set," she stated. I nodded.
"You like to act?" she asked and I nodded.
"Yup, I've never been to an acting class but I do like acting."
I had to act sometimes because sometimes police officers came up to us and we had to pretend we were Swedish people. I smiled at that memory. It was pretty fun actually depsite the fact we were running from the police.
"What are you smiling about?" Sarah asked. I looked up and realized I was smiling like an idiot. I wiped the smiled off my face.
"Nothing," I mumbled. She smirked.
"Sure it's nothing," she said and glanced oer at Austin and then back at me.
What was that about?
"What?" I asked. She shook her head and laughed a little.
"You're clueless but nevermind," she laughed. I gave her a weird look but forgot about it when the bell rang.
We walked to the classroom together adn sat down in the back together.
We were the first people in so we got to talk a little.
"What were you talking about and why did you look at Austin and then at me?" I asked getting impatient. She rolled her eyes.
"Like you don't already know," she said.
"I don't that's why I'm asking!" I yelled but the class already started and she couldn't answer.
"Alright class we aren't really going to do anything today because I have a very special project planned for tomorrow so I guess you have some free time to just talk," Mr. Carson, the drama teacher, announced.
I sighed as Sarah and I looked at each other.
"Hmm I wonder what the project could be," Sarah thought aloud.
"Stop thinking about that! I want to know why you were'sure it's nothing' and then looked at Austin!" I yelled.
"Someone say my name?" Austin asked and walked over to us.
"Sarah just tell me!" I pleaded, ignoring Austin.
"Why do you want to know so bad?" she asked.
"Because I don't want you getting the wrong idea," I said and glared at her. If you are wondering what I mean by 'wrong idea,' I meant that liking him.
I didn't want her thinking that because I didn't. From what I hear, he's a jerk and a player. And I just met him yesterday. So why would she think I like him?
"We'll talk about this later," she explained and I sighed and nodded.
"Why did you say my name? I knew you loved me Sarah," Austin said sarcastically and put his hand over his heart.
"In your dreams," she said.
"In your dreams," he said and winked at her. I couldn't help but laugh a little at Sarah's face.
"You're a jerk you know that?" Sarah asked. He nodded.
Tyler and Alex began walking over to us.
"What are we talking about?" Tyler asked and sat down in the chair in front of me.
"Nothing," I mumbled and then started tapping my pencil against the desk. It's kind of a bad habbit.
"So Austin did you hear Chelby's dating Zach now?" Alex asked.
"I never liked her anyway. I was just using her," he explained. I scowled at him. As much as I hated Chelby, that was just plain cold.
"What? She was so annoying!" Austin proclaimed. I rolled my eyes.
"Why'd you use her?" I asked harshly.
"I don't need to tell you these things," he yelled.
"But still you shouldn't use people!" I shouted.
"Miss Shouse, Mr. Mahone quiet down," Mr. Carson told us and we stopped yelling.
"Why do you care so much?" he whispered coldly and gave me a weird look. I just shook my head and slumped down in my chair.

I told my uncle I was going to a friend's house so Sarah and I were walking to her house right now.
"So are you going to tell me what you meant?" I asked. She groaned.
"I just meant that I think Austin likes you! That's it sheesh!" she said. I stared at her like she was crazy.
"Why would he like me? He's so mean to me," I asked.
"I know but still have you seen the way he looks at you?" she asked.
"Um yeah and they're mostly scowls," I laughed.
"Whatever he totally likes you," she said.
"Does not!"
"Whatever you say."
