Chapter 12

"Ok today class, you will be reading the question and answer sheet to the class. First up is Sarah and Robert," the teacher announced and Sarah and Rob stood up and walked up to the front of the class.

I watched them as they read out their answers.

"Pss, hayden," a voice whispered. I looked up and saw Austin trying to get my attention.

"What?" I whispered back careful not to let the teacher see us talking.

"I never got the last question, what is something that no one knows about you?" he asked and guestered the blank under the question on his sheet.

I thoguth about the answer for a second.

"Um a lot of people know this already but just put that I was homeschooled my whole life I guess," I answered. He smiled and quickly wrote that down.

We waited while all the other people went up and presented theirs to the class. We were the second to last to go.

"Austin and Hayden, you're up."

I grabbed my sheet and walked up to the front of the class, and so did Austin.

When I was in the center, Austin stood next to me.

"You can start."

Austin went first.

"Her favorite color is red, her favorite book is Delirium, her favorite movie is....," and then he went on and on saying stuff about me.

I bit my lip as I watched him talk. His lips moving swiftly and fast...

Whoa wait what?

Stalkerish much...

"And one thing I learned about her is that before this she had been homeschooled her whole life," he finished up. I took a deep breath. It was my turn now.

"His favorite color is read, his favorite book is Hunger Games...," and then I went on and on listing things about him.

They were mostly simple stuff, like favorite sport, favorite show and all that.

I started talking slower because I didn't want to get to the last one. Even though he said I could something felt wrong about telling everyone his dad had died. I just don't want to say it, but I had to.

"And s-something I learned about him was...," I was cut off by the bell.

"All right class we'll finish this up tomorrow and then I'll tell you your next assignment. Have a nice day everyone!"

I sighed with relief. Saved by the bell. I walked back to my desk and grabbed all my books and started walking out.

Sarah caught up to me.

"Guess what?" she chirped excitedly.

"Yes?" I asked.

"I'm going to Mexico right after school for my cousin's wedding! And he's rich so there's going to be a huge party in a huge mansion with great food and a pool and he had really cute sons my age!"

"That's nice," I said dryly not really caring.

She gave me a weird look.

"Um were you even listening?" she asked.

"I was but I'd rather not here about you going to paradise while I'm here stuck in my hosue all alone on a weekend," I explained. Her smile returned back to her face and she laughed.

"You'll have Rob, it will be fine, I'll only be gone for a few days."

As she continued telling me about Mexico, a pang of guilt hit me that I haven't even considered telling her about Austin.
