Lt. Eryk C
At Frontier Base
7th Army Division; Delta Battalion
We arrived at the base very late at night. But we were still hours away from the mission so I sat down in one off of the small building to clear my head.
I pulled out my knife and I looked at it. I studied it. "Why didn't I kill him when I had the chance" I muttered to myself.
"Next time I'll just do it" I said to myself aloud stabbing the knife into the table and I left it there. While I was talking to myself I hadn't noticed Joe arrive.
"What do you want" I snapped at him. "Just wanted to tell you that we're ready" said Joe walking towards me.
"Well I'm not so go away for a minute" I shouted standing up from the table grabbing my knife as I stood up. "You ok Eryk" said Joe walking closer. I continued to back away towards the wall.
"Something's up" questioned Joe. I held the knife in front of me pointing at him. "Don't come any closer" I said. "There's something wrong and think I know why" said Joe stopping.
"Well then in lighten me" I said sarcastically. "I think it's because of Josh, Colton and Eric's death that is haunting you and you want revenge on this Waffen guy" said Joe.
I fell to the floor sobbing. He was right it haunted my every dream, my every step, my every thought was clouded by that moment.
I held my hand to wipe away my tears and just felt like there was nothing I could do and there's death were all my fault.
"I also wanted to tell you that we captured an Xylvanian soldier" said Joe. I looked at him and I slowly stopped crying. I wiped my face and walked over to him. I collected myself so I didn't look like I was crying.
"Has he told you anything yet" I asked. "No not yet" said Joe following close behind me. I exited the building. I saw my squad all around a Xylvanian.
He was on his hands and knees. I pushed past my men. I looked at him.
He stared back at me and spit. "Tell us what you know and I will set you free" I lied. "I'll never talk" said the Xer. I held up my knife. "Maybe this will" I said holding up the knife to his neck.
"Fine I'll talk" said the soldier. "Great" I said. "We have several anti-air emplacements all over the area so your gunships are useless and we have plenty of heavy tanks" said the soldier.
"That's it" I said raising an eyebrow. "Yes that's it" said the soldier. "Well that fine but its still not enough" I said
I then got right in his face. "Do you know who I am" I asked. "Aren't you that guy who took out Commander Waffens best men" said the soldier.
"Do you know who I am" I shouted. He paused to think.
"I'm your worst nightmare" I said stabbing him right in the heart. He died instantly. I stood up and had my knife in my right hand. I looked at it for a second.
There was blood all over it. "Hold on" I said. "I have to clean up the mess" I said bending down and wiping the blood on the dead Xylvanian.
"You said you would let him go" said Derek confused by my actions. "I lied" I said walking away toward my battalion.
I heard cracking on my headset and Rachael came on. "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU" she yelled.
"Nothing" I said. "I heard and saw everything and it wasn't nothing" said Rachael. "You need to stop this one more stunt like that and I'll report you to your CO" said Rachael. "Fine but, if you do you'll regret it for the rest of your life" I said turning off my headset.
