Chapter 17: The Guns of Tiki Bay

I walked among my men checking on them to see if they were ready to attack the enemy.

Today are Solar Allies were under attack and were completely incapacitated by the Xylvanians and were forced into a small fort.

Sadly the fort was on the other side of the island and now we were forced to fight through tough enemy resistance.

I had been given a small force of 6 Infantry men, 3 assault soldiers and 2 Bazooka Soldiers. The Solar Empire also sent a small force of assault soldiers and infantry men

As I reached the front of my men I asked Joe if he was ready or not. He looked up and answered.

"Honestly sir that depends on your definition of ready" he said. "Well I believe that I am ready" I said starting to walk ahead.

As I walked forward I noticed that Xers were approaching slowly. "Stay on your guard" I said to my men.

They all got ready for a fire fight. We continued to walk towards each other waiting for the other to make a move.

Suddenly a shot rang out and a man fell. The other Xers opened fire and retreated to sandbags.

"Take them head on" I shouted letting out a quick burst of fire. I then pulled out a grenade and pulled the pin and flipped the switch.

I quickly chucked the grenade at the Xylvanian position. It land behind them and exploded sending them flying in all different directions.

I got up and moved toward the dead Xers. I crouched on the other side and peered over. I saw only dead Xylvanian soldiers.

I motioned to my men for them to move up with me.

"Lets keep going I can see some MG nests ahead" I said as I studied the rest of the battle field.

As I look around I saw MG nests and plenty of infantry with a MG tower behind that.

"Everyone spread out" I ordered. I got into position and waited die the others to do the same.

I got up still crouching and advanced slowly followed by my men who were also crouching.

We moved slowly toward the MG which still hasn't seen us or heard us approaching.

Suddenly I heard the snap of a branch and the MG gunner quickly turned his gun and opened fire.

"Get down" I cried as I threw myself to the hot sand below me.

I looked over and saw Joe jerk back and fall to the ground not moving. "I want you right behind me" I shouted getting up and moving over to Joe.

Donavan was right behind me. I crouched down next to Joe and saw that he had been shot.

"MEDIC" I screamed. The medic came over and started to patch up his left arm.

"Alright lets get a move on boys" I said moving up to the front and gathering my men.

Joe ran up to the front and greeted me as we moved forward. I pulled out a grenade and flipped the switch, pulled the pin and threw it.

It soared threw the air as it landed behind the gunner and exploded destroying the nest.

As we moved forward slowly I saw more MG nests and enemy infantry ahead.

"Split up; I want the bazooka soldiers to take out the MG ok the right, the assault soldiers will take out the one on the left" I shouted. "What about the rest of us" asked Miles?
