It took quite awhile to finally get the Red River only to find they had pulled back to Fort Light. They had increased defenses now because it was the last heavy tank squad in the region and the people who worked the tank were the best drivers and gunners. Most other Tundran tank divisions had been spread thin due to are increased attacks across the country.

Other divisions had been put in reserve to defend major cities and the Tundran capital city.

I had my battalion assembled near the edge of the base.

Where they didn't patrol, the fort was made up of tank blockers and fortresses and it also had a communications center and a radar array. If we captured those and destroyed the tanks, we could advance on the capital's defenses and win the war. This battle was critical to the frontier's victory in the region and for victory in the entire war.

Zach was also tasked to help me destroy the Iron Eight; as they were more commonly known to us. To destroy the Iron Eight, we had six infantry, six bazooka soldier, three flamethrower soldiers, five anti-air soldiers, one light recon, and four light tanks. I also had my squad with me too.

This task seemed damn near impossible, but we always had the best odds on are side anyway. My mind now semi at ease I was ready to start the attack.

I moved the tanks up the road a little. I put my recon with the tanks and I left the anti-air and the flamethrowers back behind the tanks. I moved the bazooka soldiers up a small hill behind some trees and bushes. My squad and I joined them. I saw the first tank coming down the road.

"Get ready to fire on my command," I whispered. The men nodded in understanding.

"Take aim...

ready...

FIRE!" I yelled.

A hail of bullets and rockets were fired at the tank. The tank exploded into a fiery wreck of metal. "Good job men!"

A faint smell of burning flesh could be found as the air blew toward us absorbing the smells emitted from the tank.

"Well here comes another one," said Joe.

I looked down the road only to another tank. I looked around. All my men were still reloading. I then got some C4 out of my bag. "Cover me!" I yelled as I ran down the hill towards the tank.

The tank fired a shell at me but it flew over past me and hit the side of the hill behind me. I then watched the tank open and someone get on the machine gun and open fire at me. I took cover behind a rock, my only option for taking cover at the moment.

The gunner had now pinned me down. My men then started shooting at the gunner. In response, he turned to fire on my men. The gunner now ignored me completely, forgetting that I even existed.

I took advantage of this moment by running at the tank and reaching the front of it which was heavily armored. I walked to the side which was not protected by armor and put a piece of C4 on the side I then grabbed another piece and put in on the back of the tank. I ran away and pressed the detonator - the tank was destroyed.

The combination of the C4 with the fuel in the tank helped in the tanks destruction as the flames engulfed the tank turning it into the a fiery metal tomb for those inside.

Zach and my men came to join me.

"Alright, I have a new plan on how to destroy the Iron Eight," I said, "I want the tanks to flank right and wait for my signal before destroying the radar array. I also want my squad, the bazooka soldier, and the anti-air soldiers to flank left with me and, when I give the signal, we will attack from both sides. The flamethrowers and the recon will stay with the tanks to protect them from bazookas and gunships." I looked at all of my men to make sure they were still on the same page with me. "Alright, men, let's move out!" I yelled and we started moving to the road on the left.
