On Road to the Front Line
7th Army Division; Delta BattalionTHUD! The truck fell in a pot hole and kept driving.
In the back of the truck we bobbled like bobble heads for a moment. We sat in utter silence still feeling the pain that the Cenotaph brought on us.
Joe was wounded severely and it would be just about 2 weeks before he could return to the squad.
Although none of us wanted to go on a mission without him we had to for duty called and we answered.
Besides no matter how stupid the mission seemed we had to do.
I looked at my men. There faces were simply sad and depressed. I had no way of cheering them up.
I myself was made sad by them for I was pretty optimistic and joyful to be back in the fight after a week of sitting around "resting".
But still my question what was in this crate we were guarding. All I was told that the Xylvanians couldn't have it and that I should protect with my life.
"So what the f**k are we protecting now?" Asked Donavan. "Beats me all I was told to protect it with my life." I voiced. "Yeah I was told that same thing." Said Miles.
"Me too." Said Zach. "Like I said before it beats me what this thing is." I said again. "Well you should know, your in command here." Said Zach.
"Jesus Christ; I don't f**king know what's in this motherf**king carte, so stop pestering me about it!" I barked.
"Ahh damn it!" I shouted clutching my arm. "Sir are you ok?" Asked Miles. "Yes fine." I replied letting go of my arm.
"It's The Legion." Voiced Donavan looking away from us. "Ingrid left the Legions mark on us when the spirit of Lord Ferrok called us join the Legion." Said Donavan. "How would you know." snapped Miles.
"Because of this." Said Donavan rolling up the sleeve on his left arm. There it was the Mark that Ingrid left.
"I have one to." I spoke rolling up my right sleeve to show them. "What the hell is going on." Said Zach. "Why do you have that? Asked Miles, because I don't."
"Like I said the Legion called us." Said Donavan rolling his sleeve back down. I rolled back my sleeve as well. "Ingrid was simply the messenger." I said.
"Why are we guarding this crate at all?" Questioned Donavan. "Because there are Xylvanians moving in on are stretched supply lines." I explained.
"Well it's gotta be done." Said Miles.
Just then a rocket exploded nearby, destroying the truck behind us. "Shit!" Shouted Joe. "Get your asses
out of here." I command. Joe, Miles and Donavan jumped out and ran for the side of the road.I turned to Zach who was sitting next to me. "Help me with this." I ordered as more gunfire erupted around us.
We put the crate outside onto the road and got out of the truck. We each grabbed a side and carried it.
Once we reached the side if the road we set it down. "Glad you made it." Said Donavan.
"Me too." I replied panting.
Gun fire still was erupting on both sides of the road. Suddenly the truck we were in exploded from a enemy rocket.
I looked at the crate and grinning. "Lets find out what's in this crate." I said. I grabbed my trench shovel and I used it to pry the crate open.
