*Flashback*
"You ready?" I heard Anton pacing restlessly outside my room.
"Just a minute." I said, tucking the final strand of hair in my neatly done twisty bun and opened the door to reveal my grey-eyed, brown haired brother.
"It took you a whole hour to get ready." He complained, giving me a flat look. He looks so much like father, save for those grey eyes.
"I never asked you to wait." I smiled and started moving to get the task done. Today's task was to go out without any bodyguards and get some ice-cream without letting the father know.
I was walking ahead, when he suddenly stopped me by holding my hand, I looked at him raising an eyebrow, silently questioning him.
"You're the elder sibling, yet you can't conceal that gun properly. Learn a thing or two from me, sissy." He smirked, and I looked back to realize that indeed the gun was not concealed properly.
"Well, you caught me." I said, pulling out the gun from the waistband of my jeans and tossing it into the large antique vase outside of my room.
"That's a nice hiding place."
"I know, right?" I smirked, "Now, let's go?" I asked.
"Sure." He said.
We went down to the living room, looking at various people hustling and bustling around.
"Why in the world is this place never silent?" Anton asked, looking directly at one of our father's employee talking on and on with the phone balanced between his head and left shoulder, while his hands were busy typing furiously on laptop.
"There's a reason why we live here only on weekends." I answered, looking around searching for either mother or father or Leo or Salbator, but to no use. There wasn't any sign of any of them.
"Where are you both going?" Ah finally, a family member's voice among those worker's incoherent mumbling.
"For ice-cream." Anton replied sarcastically, giving a side-hug to Salbator.
"Right, you guys got your guns?" He asked, looking at me.
"I don't." I answered. Then, he looked at Anton.
"I do but if someone kidnaps her, I'll let them." Sabator laughed and Anton smiled proudly. Jerks.
"That's like my man!" They both high-fived and laughed while I tried to fume when in reality, I was enjoying this little jest because it was rare in this household.
"Okay enough, I am 18 and I can take care of myself in case of any adversaries." I said, defending myself before I could become topic of more of their jokes.
"But she still can't tuck a gun properly like her 17 years old brother." Anton teased, earning him a smack on head from me.
"Buddy, you're still not legal though. Don't forget why your little ass has that gun." Salbator said.
"Of course, stop acting like the big bro." Anton frowned, crossing his arms across his chest.
Salbator gave him what could be the flattest look I've ever seen on someone's face, "I would have to sadly, because I am indeed the big bro here."
"Whatever." Anton rolled his eyes in what I thought was jest, but was actually just the beginning of some hardcore rivalry.
There was some glaring between my younger brother of 17 and the elder brother of 20, so like the middle child of 18, I decided it was time to intervene like I have to do a lot lately.
