Chapter 28
I woke up the next morning with tear stains lining my cheeks, making strings of hair stick to them. Wonderful. Stupid Seth for making me look like this. Stupid Seth for making me seem like a lovestruck overemotional teenage girl. Stupid Seth for making me break down. Nobody has ever seen me like that until Cole did last night. I've always been able to mask my emotions, but last night, the dam burst and I acted like a pregnant womanx10. Scary, I know.
I sighed and sat up in bed, looking around the room. Thankfully, this isn't Seth's room because if it was, I would have gotten up and made it look like a hurricane and tornado hit at the same time. Like Seth's room, the walls were wood ; there was a desk with a computer and printer resting on top in the corner to the left of the bed with a window next to it. In the far left corner, there was a large bookshelf overflowing with books. A few feet away from the bookshelf was a closet with the entrance to the room next to it and a dresser on the other side of the door. A navy blue couch was sitting next to the bed, facing the TV that was mounted on the wall above the desk.
I got out of bed and made my out of the room to the kitchen, following the smell of bacon. When I walked through the doorway, I saw Cole frying bacon and making pancakes on the stove. He looked up and shot me a smile, handing me a plate with two pancakes, three strips of bacon, and two pieces of toast. I looked up at him and raised an eyebrow. “Do you really expect me to eat all of this?”
“Yup,” he said, popping the 'p' and went back to the stove.
I sat down at the table and cut my pancakes, pouring syrup over every piece and stuffing a piece into my mouth, practically moaning at the taste. “This is really good , Cole.”
“Thanks,” he replied, sitting across from me after handing me a glass of milk. “How are you feeling?” he asked, his voice much more gentle.
I sighed. “I'm alright. He just gets on my nerves and makes me want to slap him.”
Cole nodded. “Understandable.” After a few minutes of silence, he asked, “Do you think you can give him another chance? I talked to him last night after bringing you back inside and it turns out that the entire thing is a huge misunderstanding.”
I shrugged. “Maybe, but I doubt it. He needs to mature the hell up and stop acting like nothing matters to him.”
“I agree, but he knows that he really messed up and wants to fix it.”
“If he wants to fix it, then he needs to come to me and prove it. I refuse to be sucked into this game with him again, especially if he doesn't care.”
Cole was about to reply, but was cut off with Seth walking into the kitchen, his hair ruffled and sticking up in different directions, eyes droopy and slightly unfocused. Needless to say, he looked adorable.“Morning,” he yawned, his voice filled with sleep. He walked over to the stove and grabbed a plate, piling it high with food.
Cole stood up and shot me a smirk, saying, “Well, I got something to do. See you later.” He walked out of the kitchen with a smile plastered on his face, ignoring my death glare.
Seth picked up the coffee pot and looked over at me. “Want any?”
I shook my head. “No thanks, I don't like coffee.”
His eyebrows shot up in surprise as he sat down at the table. “How can you be someone living in this generation and not like coffee? People your age drink this like they'll die without it.”
I raised an eyebrow in his direction, a small smile pulling at the corner of my mouth. “Do you realize how old you just made yourself sound?”
“Well, I can't be too old if so many people think I'm so hot.”
