Chapter 3

Lindsay"s POV

I am currently freaking out. Seth is going to be here in an hour, and I have absolutely no idea what I am going to wear. I sighed. Desperate times calls for desperate measures. I picked up my phone and called one of my friends, Casey.

            “Hey beautiful!”

I rolled my eyes and smiled. “Hey. I need your help.”

“With what, honey bunch?” Where she comes up with these names, I will never know.

“I have a date tonight, and I need something to wear.”

The line was silent for a few seconds until she started screaming like one of those dumb blondes in a horror movie. I pulled the phone away from my ear before I could go deaf.

            “WHO IS IT?!”

I didn’t want to answer. Once she knows who it is, I’ll never hear the end of it. “Just some guy…” I answered vaguely.

“Girl, if you don’t tell me who it is, I won’t help you,” she warned.

I don’t know what to do. She is serious about not helping me, but for some unknown reason, I wanted this date with Seth to go really well, but I don’t want this to go all over the school. “You cannot tell anyone.”

            “I know.”

I sighed and murmured, “Seth Matthews.”

This time, the line was completely silent; I couldn’t even hear her breathing. I was debating if I should call an ambulance, when she screamed twenty times louder than before.

            “YOU ARE SO LUCKY!!!!!!”

I waited until she as finished blabbing to herself to ask her, again, what I should wear.

“It depends. Where are you going?”

            “Just the movies.”

“Oh,” she said, sounding disappointed. “You could wear your emerald blouse, black skinny jeans, and black flats.”

            “Thank you! You’re a lifesaver!”

“I’m pretty sure that I’m not a chewy fruit flavored candy, but thank you.”

“I have to go. He’s going to be here soon.”

“Okay, I expect you to tell me everything tomorrow!”

            “I will,” I smiled. “Bye.”

“Bye.”

After hanging up, I got changed and brushed my hair, not bothering with make-up. I normally didn’t wear it, and if I attempted to put it on now, I know that I would end up looking like a clown. I grabbed my phone, keys, and wallet before descending the stairs.

The door bell rang when I was half way down the stairs. I froze, knowing that Seth was at the other side of the door. My stomach bursted into butterflies and a ridiculous smile came on my face, making me look like a deranged clown. I forced myself to walk slowly down the stairs, not wanting to seem too eager (which I was) or to fall flat on my face and tumble down the stairs with Seth being able to see through the small windows that boarder the front door.
