Chapter 7
Lindsay’s POV
“Can I go to the nurse? I don’t feel too good,” I said, lying to Mr. Jay.
Sighing, Mr. Jay signed the pass, allowing me to leave the room. I walked away, heading to the nurse’s office. After seeing Cole’s face when the teachers pulled him and Seth apart, it was obvious that both of the brothers would have to go to the nurse.
Cole’s face was already starting to bruise along his jaw where Seth punched him. His lip was swollen and his eye was puffy, already darkening in color.
Seth didn’t look much better with a bruised and bloodied forehead, his temple covered in blood. He had a bruise forming on his cheek, right on the corner of his mouth and a long, deep gash on his right cheek and another cut near his left eye.
It always amazed me how much damage siblings can give each other. I have an older brother, Nick, who is my best friend; I can talk to him about anything and he won’t judge me. Even though he’s a sophomore in college and he’s busy with classes, parties, and girls, he always manages to find time for me—which is a lot, because he always talks about how much school work he has and how hot the girls are at Columbia. People say that Nick is a player, but he’s just trying to find the right girl. It’s not his fault if he asks a girl out and she turns out to be the complete opposite of what he was expecting; he doesn’t go out with her again. Then, the next day at school, the girl goes around saying that they had a one night stand, not wanting to seem like she was rejected, and Nick gets labeled as a player. Girls are so immature sometimes; they should just accept that they got rejected and move on, not go around and act like a whore.
I don’t know what I would do if Nick suddenly walked out of my life. I know that sounds really dumb and corny, but its true, Nick is my best friend. With my life crumbling around me, as it has been for the past few years, Nick has been there, helping me keep my sanity. I can talk to him about it and he knows exactly how I feel because he was there—he lived it! Nick has been by my side since I was born, and with what has happened all of those years ago, we grew impossibly closer.
As I reached the nurse’s office, I saw Cole holding an ice pack to his eye as Seth was being attended by the nurse; he had an annoyed look on his face as she fluttered around him like an annoying moth, the nurse looking thrilled as she got to touch Seth. She was in her mid-twenties with long blonde hair and a huge chest. Have you ever noticed that girls with a huge chest tend to have little to no brain cells? It’s like all of the cells go into making her chest and leaving very little cells for a proper functioning brain.
The nurse looked up and saw me leaning against the door frame. “Oh, hello,” she said, glaring at me, probably mad that I interrupted her time to molest Seth.
“Hi,” I said, awkwardly rubbing my arm.
“What’s wrong?”
“I have a head ache,” I lied.
“Oh, okay. Just lay down on that cot over there,” she glared at me again. I just hope that she knows that molestation is illegal, especially with students.
Sighing, I walked over to the cot next to Cole. I sat down and waited for the nurse to leave so I could talk to the brothers.
As if he read my mind, I heard Seth say in an alluring voice, “Nurse person, leave the room and go out into the parking lot. Get in your car and go home; you don’t feel good, and won’t return for the rest of the day.”
