Chapter 25

“So where exactly are we going?” I asked.

Seth, Jake, and I were sitting in Seth’s car, Seth speeding down the road.

“Cole’s being held in a warehouse in Pennsylvania,” Jake answered.

            “Okay, so what’s the plan?”

“The plan is that Jake and I are going to storm into the warehouse and get Cole back  while you stay in the car,” Seth answered, his eyes focused on the road.

“No I’m not; I’m going to help.” Who does Seth think he is to be able to tell me what to do?

“Look, you’re only human while I’m a ratamon and Jake is a ghost. We are going to be perfectly safe and if you go in, you might get killed.”

“I’m not staying in the car completely clueless. I’m going to help.”

Seth took his phone out of his pocket and tossed it to Jake in the backseat. “Call Casey and tell her and Harley to meet us at the warehouse. We’ll have Casey put a charm on the car so Lindsay can’t get out.”

“No! What if something happens and I need to get out?” How stupid can Seth get? If some person comes and tries to break into the car, how will I be able to get out of the car?

“I’ll leave the keys in the car and you can drive away.”

“What about you guys? I’m not going to just leave you behind.”

“Harley and I have super speed, Jake can’t get hurt and Casey can teleport. We’ll all be okay; it you that I’m worried about.”

“If you’re so worried about me, why leave me in a locked car? Why can’t I go in with you so you can keep an eye one me?”

Seth let out a humorless chuckle. “Yeah right. If you come then I’ll be worried about you and won’t be able to get Cole back. Casey can stay with you while Jake, Harley, and I get Cole back.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver bracelet with bright blue stones spread throughout it. “What’s this for?”

“Inside the stones are small amounts of reymen, which will keep all supernaturals out of your head as long as you wear it. When you put it on, the stones will light up so you know its working,” Seth explained.

“But why do I need this if you already taught me how to block people out? And what is reymen?”

“Reymen is a chemical that is harmful to ratamon. If it directly touches our skin, then it will burn us. If we ingest in large amounts, then it can kill us. This is stronger than your mental wall. If you get hit in the head or something surprises or scares you, then you will involuntary drop your wall. This will keep your wall up no matter what unless you take it off.”

“Earlier you told me that you can only be killed if you’re stabbed in the heart of your head is cut off. Why didn’t you tell me about reymen?”

Seth sighed. “I didn’t tell you because I wanted you to learn how to fight and not depend on reymen all the time; this stuff is difficult to get a hold of. I only have some because I thought that it would be useful and I could figure out a way to become immune to it. However, even though I’ve been like this for ninety-five years, I haven’t figured out a way to be able to touch it without protection and not feel the burn.”
