Chapter 34
“I'm going insane,” Nick mumbled, running his hands over his face. “I have finally lost it.” He turned so he was looking at Jake and sighed. “I need a drink,” he said before leaving the room.
“Nick, you might want to--” I was going to warn him about dad being downstairs, but it was too late as I heard Nick's girlish shriek.
Footsteps came pounding up the stairs and Nick slammed my door open. “Lindsay, why are my dead brother and father here?”
I shrugged. “Dad's here because he likes to piss me off and Jake is here because he just feels like it.”
“What the fuck is going on?!”
“Apparently dad was never really dead,” I sighed carelessly. “The whole thing was staged.”
“How is Jake here? Do not tell me that it was staged because I saw him die right in front of me.”
“He's a ghost,” I answered simply.
Nick looked like he was about to pass out. His face was white and shiny with sweat. “H-h-what?” he stuttered, panting as he struggled to get the words out.
“You okay, Nick?” I asked, rising an eyebrow. “You look kinda pale.”
Next thing I knew, Nick dropped to the floor, unconscious.
“Well,” Jake said from beside me. “That was interesting.”

An hour later, Nick finally woke up. He saw me leaning over him and said, “Lindsay, I had the weirdest dream last night; dad and Jake were alive.” He sat up and saw Jake and dad siting on the couch across the room from him, making his eyes widen and mutter, “Oh, shit.”
Jake shot Nick a smile and said, “Hey man!”
“Lindsay, how is he talking to me?” Nick harshly whispered.
“I'm no dead you know!” Jake told him, offended. “Well, sort of, but not really...”
“I feel like I'm going to pass out again,” Nick mumbled from beside me.
Dad got up and headed to the kitchen, coming back with a glass of water. He went over to Nick and tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.
Nick turned and looked up to see dad, making him jump and let out a shriek. “Okay, I'm just going to come out and say it: how the fuck are you and Jake here? Am I dead? But Lindsay is here, so does that mean that she's dead too?” He looked over at me and raised an eyebrow. “So ho did you die? Did you do something cool, like go skydiving and your parachute not open? What about me? Did I wrestle a shark and get eaten?”
“You're not dead, idiot,” Seth said from behind me. He was leaning against the wall, wearing a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt. “All of this is real, believe it or not.”
Nick looked at me and asked, “Is this like Twilight or something?”
I shrugged. “More like Vampire Diaries,” I corrected.
“I consider that an insult,” Seth muttered.
“How is that an insult? Ian Somerhalder is hot!”
“Are you trying to say that I'm some pretty boy?”
“What's wrong with that? You should take that as a compliment!”
“So if I compare you to Megan Fox, then you'll be okay with that?”
“No because guys only want to have sex with her!” I shot him a disgusted look.
