Chapter 30
The bright morning light woke me up, making me groan. I rolled over onto my back and sat up, rubbing my eyes. I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom that was connected to my room, my feet padding softly against the marble floor.
I opened the door and screamed, covering my eyes. “What are you doing?!”
Seth's voice rang out over the water hitting the floor. “Taking a shower. You?”
“I'm covering my eyes so I don't go blind!”
“I don't blame you. If I were in your position, I would be dong the exact same thing. All this awesomeness can kill somebody.”
After a moment of silence, he asked, “What are you doing in here anyway?”
“Uh, I was planning on brushing my teeth, but that clearly isn't going to happen now.”
“There's a spare toothbrush in one of the drawers over there.”
Seth, I can't see where you're pointing because my eyes are covered and I'm not planning on changing any time soon.”
I could practically hear his eyes rolling. “In one of the drawers under the sink.”
“I think I would rather just wait until you're done.” I turned around and took a few steps when I ran into a wall, falling to the ground with a BOOM.
Seth bursted out into laughter as I picked myself off of the ground, groaning in pain. “You're so supportive,” I mumbled. If my eyes has been open, I would be death glaring at him, but I didn't exactly want to lose my eyesight. I stood up ad walked out of the room on shaky legs, holding my hand against my forehead.
I made my way down to the kitchen and rifled through the cabinets, pulling out a box of Fruity Pebbles. I sat down at the table after pouring myself and adding the milk and began to eat, shoveling it into my mouth.
“Hey, I'm taking you shopping today,” Seth told me. He was leaning against the doorway, his air still wet from the shower and falling into his eyes, drops running down onto his grey t-shirt, darkening the fabric wherever they land. To put it simple terms, he looked seriously hot.
Sadly, he caught me at the wrong time; I had milk and brightly colored cereal falling out of my mouth due to staring at him in his drool-worthy attire. I quickly swallowed, almost choking, and wiped my mouth before talking. “Why?”
He shrugged. “Well, you don't have any clothes here and I doubt that you want to wear the same thing every day. I washed the clothes that you wore yesterday, so you have something to change into when you're done eating.”
I stood up and washed my bowl, saying a quick “Thank you” to Seth before going up stairs and changing. I grabbed my jeans, red t-shirt, and converse before slipping them on and going into the bathroom to brush my teeth. Once I was done, I headed back downstairs and found Seth waiting for me by the front door.
Once he saw what I was wearing, he raised an eyebrow, making me pause on the steps and look down at myself. Is it that bad? “Where's your jacket?”
I guess I must look crazy for going outside in the middle of December in Minnesota with no jacket. Blushing and looking to the ground, I mumbled, “I don't have one.” I haven't been to the house since the fire and if I go there, I know I'm going to break down, but I need to see if there is anything left.
Seth walked up the stairs and headed into his room, coming back a few seconds later with a black and grey Nike sweatshirt in his hands. He tossed it to me a few feet away, the sweatshirt landing on my head. I scowled at him once I pulled it off and he hand the nerve to smirk back. Idiot. “Here, you can borrow it.”
