S.H.I.E.L.D Is The Enemy

       I came to in the quinjet. I knew what had happened before anyone had even told me. Steve was solemn because he knew how I felt right now. I had told him. He asked me if I regretted saving the little girl. Part of me wanted to scream yes, that I should have let her figure it out. But, the second I saw the little girl in trouble my body took over. I didn't think of what would happen or if I would get hurt. To me in that moment the only thing that mattered was the girl. And now this is the consequence. I'm a monster again. And like every other monster . . . I will be hunted. 
      "Hey," Steve says coming into my room and leaning against the door frame. "I know how you are so I won't ask." I nod and stand up taking the pony tail out of my hair. My long hair falls around my should and I look at the floor. I look up and at Steve. 
      "I don't know what to do Steve." I say," I don't want this. I don't want to be a monster again. Why does this always happen?" I sit on my bed and bite back the tears threatening to spill. Steve sits beside me and grabs my hand. I lay my head on his shoulder and take a breathe. "I don't know how I'm going to get through this. It was one thing when I knew how to control it but this it's new. It's not the thing I had in me before. I don't know what this is  or how I'm supposed to learn to control it." He turns to me and I lift my head up to look at him. 
       "I'm going to help you figure this out, I promise. You aren't alone. I'm here." I look at him for a minute but it seems like years. My mind goes to the cabin when I kissed him and he didn't respond to it. I look away. He doesn't want to kiss me. His hand finds my chin and tilts it up. At first I am surprised when he kisses me. Then I close my eyes and kiss him back. I pull away after a few seconds. 
        "But at the cabin-" 
       "I was an idiot. I was just shocked. Now I'm not. I want this if you do." I smile and kiss him. The kiss lasts until someone clears their throat. I pull away from Steve and stand up. Wanda and Vision are both looking at us. 
         "I won't tell Tony." Wanda says smirking. I breathe a sigh of relief. "But, he does need you in the training room to assess your powers, Makenna." I nod and she turns and walks away. I look at Steve and I'm sure that I am blushing by the way he is smiling. "Now." Wanda says. 
        "Right." I say," Now. Okay coming." Before I leave I turn around and wink at Steve." We should continue this later." He smiles as I leave the room. 
       The walk to the training room was short. And Tony was all too chipper when I got there. 
       "Barbie!" He says happily. A red head is standing next to him. " This is Pepper she is going to be assessing your powers. While I go do something totally unrelated to what you were  just ding." My blush is back. How did he find out? He leaves the room and I look at Pepper. 
        "Don't worry I made him turn off the cameras when you started to kiss." I breathe a sigh of relief. 
       "He has no boundaries." I say. Pepper laughs. 
       "You are not wrong. Anyway, we should get started. Go change into those clothes," She points at the ones on the bench," Then go into that chamber. We'll get started there. "
         After I get dressed I look at the clothes I am wearing. Pepper had given me a pair of spandex and a sports bra. They were cute too. They were grey and green. I come out of the changing room and stepped into the chamber. There was only one window so I walked in front of it. Pepper was there, along with Clint, Natasha, Wanda, Steve, and Vision. 
     "Okay Makenna. For now just try your powers. See how far they can go. Start with water." A pool of water rises from the floor and I walk over to it. I put my hand over the water and bring it up. The water follows and I put it all into one big blob above me. I touch it and it freezes. I touch it again and it bursts into tiny snow flakes. It falls to the ground and then I swirl it all back up into a water blob and put it back into the pool. I touch the water again but the water starts to spread on me. It starts to freeze me and for a minute I can't move. Then I can move my fingers and my arms. The ice is spread across my whole body but I can move. It's like I am living ice. I touch the water again and the ice starts to go back to its' original state. 
        "That's new." I say. 
        "That was interesting. Okay Makenna, try fire next." I nod and hold my hand out. A small fire starts in my hand and I smile. I hold out my other hand and make a ball of water. Two powers at once, this is amazing. 
        "Makenna maybe we should only do one power at a time." Steve says. I shake my head. 
        "No, I can do more." I start a wind around the room and smile. Then the wind gets out of control. And then so does the fire and water. Then I get picked up by the whirlwind of fire, ice, and wind. I am several feet off the ground when I finally get the powers to stop. I fall on my back on the ground and groan. "Okay," I say struggling to get breathe in to my lungs," Maybe that wasn't the best idea." I sit up. "Okay, what's next?" The door opens and I look up. I get right to my feet and back up against the wall. "Steve!" I start to breathe hard and I can feel the wall behind me turning to ice. Brian steps closer to me. I look towards the window and all of them are just watching this happen. Steve looks concerned but makes no move for he door. 
        "Hey little sis." He comes closer to me, but I can't back up any further. "You know for someone with so many powers you seem to have no power against fear." I take a breathe and remember that I absorb others powers. Before I can second guess myself I step closer to him and press my thumb to his forehead. He falls to his knees but I keep my thumb on his head. I can see the fear in his eyes but I don't stop. I want him to know what it's like to be afraid. I take my hand off of his head. 
        "Don't call me that." I blink and he is taking shallow breathes. He stands up. 
       "I can because right now you are more like me than ever. You just used my own power against me-"

        "No." 
       "And you want to know what that makes you?" 
      " NO." I back up against the wall again. 
      "A monster." 
      "NO!" I yell the sound vibrates and echoes throughout the chamber. I just don't understand how much. The ceiling starts to crack and the window shatters. I stop screaming and look around. Steve stands up from behind the shattered window and his face was all I needed to know that Brian was right. And then . . . I ran.
