Makenna~

After the back up team showed up and got the man who had kidnapped the girl, I started to feel the pain of the bullet. I walked over to a truck and sat down before turning and looking at the chaos before me. The girl was in an ambulance headed to the hospital for surgery and then to the tower for interrogation. Steve was covered in the girls blood, and I imagine I looked no better. The rest of the team looked fine because they had just gotten here. The only other person that was in bad shape was the man I had beat up. From what I had overheard, he had two broken ribs, a broken nose, and an internal bleed. I didn't mean to almost kill him but after I saw those things . . .  I couldn't hold my anger back.

A paramedic comes over to me but I wave her away. I knew that I should go to the hospital but I didn't want to. I spent most of my life in hospitals trying to figure what was wrong with me.  Turns out it was in the genes.

"Hey , you should really get fixed up." Natasha says coming over to me," You look like you took a beating.
"You should see the other guy." I say in a monotone voice. She sits beside me and a paramedic comes over. Instead of telling them to back away I just let her do what she is going to do. She grabs a rag and applies pressure to my shoulder. I whimper at the pain that shoots through my body.

"That's not what I meant," Natasha says," I saw your face when you came out. He got inside of your head didn't he?" I side glance her before looking at Steve.

"I'm fine." Natasha sighs and jumps off the truck before walking away. She goes to stand by the rest of the team before saying something. They all look at me but I am too busy being in pain to care.

"The bullet went all the way through. You're going to need stitches." I nod. "we'll have to go to the hospital to do it."
"Just do it now, I'll be fine. " The paramedic doesn't argue and start to stitch me up. I feel several pricks before she cuts, ties, and moves on to the back of my shoulder.
When she finishes, she wipes the blood off my shoulder and leaves. I stay there for a minute before getting up and walking to the armored van that I would be riding back in. I jump up in it and sit down leaning my head back against the wall. With in minutes all of the team is in the van. I just stare at the door as it closes.
"What happened?" Stark asks me. "From the beginning." I look at him.

"I went for a run at about 5. Steve caught up to me. We were talking when we heard the girl scream. We ran to the warehouse and broke in. I went upstairs. I thought it was empty. It wasn't. He's inhuman." I say, everyone looks at me but I am looking at the floor," He used his power and that kept me down for about 10 minutes. Then when I came out of it, he shot me and I beat him up. Steve showed up shortly after that."
"What is his power?" Clint asks. I can feel my lip start to quiver. I take a deep breathe and speak.
"He can see every memory, every detail of your life. And he can take them and construct terrible images using the things that you are most scared of." I say not able to look at their faces." Afterwards it's like you've been shot. You can't move, can't think, can't breathe. It's awful." After that they only talk to each other and not me. I lay my head back against the wall of the van and close my eyes. I try to remember what it's like not to be in a position where i am always afraid or on the run. And then I am asleep.

Hours later~

When I wake up  am in the med bay on one of Shield's helicarriers. Cho is there monitoring me. I try to sit up but I can't. I feel as if my whole body is on lock down and the more I try to use it the more the alarms will go off. I groan and Cho looks over at me. She comes over and pushes my shoulder onto the bed.
"You are going to reopen your stitches. Stop moving." She pushes a couple buttons on the machines and I feel a drug flood into my body.

"How long have I been out?" I ask lying back and staring at the ceiling.
"A couple of hours. And before you ask why you are having trouble moving, it's because I gave you a drug that is flushing out your systems and renewing your body to what it is supposed to be. In case you didn't know you are supposed to eat every now and then." I smirk.
"Well, when you're being chased by everyone you don't really have time to think of a healthy diet." She grabs a clip board and heads towards the door before turning back.

"I wouldn't know." She opens the door and walks out.
