"Liam?" I call out as I notice the bathroom light on. I turn to look at the time with groggy eyes and see that the clock sets at 0:00. I tilt my head in confusion and swing my legs over the bed, cleary cautious of already waking up next to no boyfriend, whom I'd went to sleep with. My bedroom's chilly temperature hits me and my hands immediately go to rub my arms, trying to warm them. My cold, bare feet drag along my soft, white carpet of my floor as I near the bathroom door. I slowly reach out my hand and as I make contact with it, I pick up the sound of running water.
"Liam, are you in there?" My accent is more prominent due to the fear laced into my voice. I still get no answer.
I open the door as it creaks and am left to find not only the water running but blood all around the sink. I make a quiet gasping sound as my hand comes up to my mouth to shield some of the sound. I can see bloody hand prints on the mirror and all over the shower walls and glass shower door. They seemed dragged a bit, giving me the only clue almost as if someone was wiping their hands all along the light grey walls.
Only is it then, that I notice the stream of blood that goes back out the door. I turn and follow it back into the bedroom and realize it goes out the bedroom door. However, I don't remember that before. I cautiously make my way back out into the outside of my room and all is dark. I can faintly see a small glow that forms at the bottom of the stairs and looks as if it were located in the kitchen.
The bloody hand prints continue as they litter all over the stair's banister. A few fresh droplets of blood cover the steps as I slowly make my way down, still hugging my myself due to the drop in temperature. When I reach the bottom of the steps, I make a sharp left turn and continue down the hallway into the the one room where my first priority would be. But, when I enter, Jakob's room is empty. Then, I hear it. The sudden, small cry that I'm not used to hearing from Jakob. I spin around and head back out his room.
I descend back into the darkness of the hallway and slowly follow his lost cries. They aren't constant and loud. That's why they're so unfamiliar to me.
They're off in the distance and small whimpers.
My feet seem to have a mind of their own as they lead me towards the light's shadows that flicker back and forth, back and forth. Almost as if they were illuminating from a candle. Right as I'm just outside the kitchen entry, I turn to look to my right and into the living room. I'm shocked into my place as I find a body sprawled on the floor. I cautiously walk forward, too scared to walk faster. My heart stops beating as I had neared close enough to see the face of the body and notice the pool of blood that surrounds his head.
John lays there, with a hole in his neck. Directly at where the cause of his original death would have been. A sob leaves my lips and I step back, shaking my head. I repeat the words, "no, no, no" over and over again, wanting to wake up from whatever the hell this sadistic nightmare was. It seems that I had walked back enough, that I had returned to the entry of the big kitchen. It's huge size only added to the scarily eerie events that had been happening from the moment I woke up.
My vision and sight are terribly blurry and out of focus due to the salt water that had built up in my eyes. I desperately swipe at them, trying to get a clear sight at what it was that I were to find next. The candle that had cast the shadows in the first place, lay on the far back counter. It's wax dripping with each second that goes by as the fire melts it away.
The terrifying hand prints stain the kitchen counter but end on the other side. I can faintly see a pair of socked feet in the dim lit room. Though, the rest of the laying body is covered by the island that rests in the middle of the kitchen. I slowly make my around the island, more and more of the body becoming visible.
