I unbuckled Jakob from his carrier and rested his head on my shoulder. I can still hear the reunion going on from the other side of the car. I grabbed the diaper bag and took a deep breath, before checking to see if the coast was clear so that I could make my way to Liam.

I look out from the trunk of the car and see Liam crouched on the floor, arms open, as a little boy around 3 or 4 screams and runs into them. Liam gives him a huge hug and stands up, spinning him around. I smile and can't help but let my soaring imagination think about how Liam would act if we ever were to pursue our relationship. Get married, have little Liam look a likes of our own. Give Jakob some siblings to mess around with and teach them all that he'll eventually find out with growing age. But, I can only dream of it. I won't leave Liam for not being able to give me kids due to his time consuming career, I would never, but you just always wonder that single word question sometimes. When?

"Hey Jess! Get over here!" I hear Liam call, laughing, causing my thoughts to dissolve. I turn to look at him and his family with a passive smile and shyly make my way towards them. But then I remembered.

I forgot to check my makeup and my hair in the car.... Crap.

When I'm at Liam's side, I self-consciously tug the bottom of my shirt and run a hand through my hair. Liam notices and leans down to whisper in my ear as his family tries to gather the little boy that suddenly decided to play around and run off. "You're fine." He kisses my temple, easing my nerves just the slightest, and introduces me to the Payne's. "Mom, Dad, Ruth, Nicola," he nods his head at each one of them before looking at me and saying, "Meet Jessica and Jakob Collins." I shyly go up to shake the hand of Liam's father, Geoff I believe his name is, as he compliments me.

"Hello love. Welcome to the family." I blushed deeply at that and laughed as Jakob tried to shake his hand when Geoff playfully stuck his hand out for him. I moved on to his mother Karen with a slightly less nervous smile and said, "Hello. I'm Jessie. Nice t-to meet you Mrs. Payne." Damn, I stuttered. She threw her arms around me, which I went wide eyed at, and I turned to Liam not used to this sort of affection.

"Karen, darling. You can call me Karen." She says as she finally backs up to give me a good looking. "It's so nice to finally meet you! I've always wondered who this charming lady was that Liam would be dreamily talking about when he'd call me at 6:00 in the morning." She finished with her hands clasped in front of her.

"Mom." I hear Liam groan. I turn to look at him and he's a dark shade of red as he stands holding the little boy in his arms.

"Oh! Jakob's even cuter than in the pictures you showed me Liam!" She boggled as she asked for permission to take Jake. I nodded and once she took Jakob, he started to play with her hair.

"Uh, Jake-" I got cut off by Karen laughing.

"Don't worry about it lovely. He's fine. I went through it all the time with that little buggar over there." She nods to the little boy in Liam's arms. I move on to Liam's 2 sisters, seeing as they were side by side.

"Hello. Nice to meet you." I shake their hands. "As you probably know, my name's Jessie." Nicola and I laugh but Ruth seems to be a bit uneasy. This sets my nerves back into place.

"Well, I'm Nicola and that's Ruth. We're so happy to get to meet you!" She squeals as she lunges for a hug. I can already tell Nicola is the bubbly one. However, at Nicola's statement, Ruth slightly scowls. She recovers though and intimidatingly lifts her head a bit.

"Well, I'm Ruth, as you probably already know," She's mocking me. "and I guess it's a pleasure to meet you." She dismisses and turns to go into the house. My head falls and my shoulders slump as I wordlessly caress my upper arm for no reason as an awkward silence falls over the 5 of us adults. Liam seems to be slightly disappointed in his sister's action, for he gives the little boy back to Nicola and says, "Give me a second. I'll be right back, okay?" He says as he comes up to me and gives me a kiss on the forehead. "Her behavior is unacceptable." I hold him back by his hand and say, "Liam it's fine. I don't want to cause a scene with your family out here." I hush. He shakes his head stubbornly.

"No. You did nothing wrong." With that, he pulls his hand out of my grasp, leaving a kiss on the back of it, and I watch as he descends into the pearl white house with multiple windows.

We nearly just arrived a mere 20 minutes ago and I've already caused drama. Literally, it's the worst feeling ever.

"Well, I don't believe you've met Christian. Say hello, love." Nicola says.

"Hello love." Christian says loud and proud, causing all of us to erupt in laughter.

"Is he yours?" I ask politely. She nods.

"Yes, this little one is mine." She gets out as she puts the squirming little boy down. He runs to his grand mom and points to Jakob who has rested on her shoulder finding a comfortable spot to catch Z's.

"Who's that Nan. Who is he?"

"This is Jakob, love." She responds happily. HE just nods and starts running around again.

"Well, why don't you go and take Jakob up to Liam's room and call Liam to come help me get your bags down while Karen and Nicola get dinner ready?"

"Okay, no problem." I smile as Karen hands me Jakob. I readjust the diaper bag on my shoulder as Jakob's murmurs fill my left ear. His warm breath on my cold skin causes me to shiver and I pull the jacket's on our bodies closer to both of our bodies.

I enter the warm house and take the opportunity to quickly look at my surroundings. The living room is your average family living room. Cozy couches against the wall and a television. Knick knacks decorate around the lovely room and the rest of the house as well. I find the stairs, with some help from Karen and Nicola, and ascend up the beautiful granite steps. About halfway through I hear not so hushed voices from the last room of the 2nd floor.

"She's just gonna leave you like the other brat did! You're blind Liam, as well as selfish! We haven't seen you in nearly 8 months from your touring and for our most celebrated holiday that we only invited you to you bring yet another one of your.... your... What do you even call them? A fling!" Ruth spits. Her words were like punches to my chest and as hard as I tried to ignore her hits, the sting was still there.

"What is wrong with you?! You don't even freaking know her Ruth! How dare you! And you're right, you invited me and I invited Jessie! You want to know why? Because I thought it'd be a great opportunity for you to meet the girl of my dreams who also happens to be my wonderful girlfriend because she took more care of me than Sophia ever could. She was the one there when I woke up one morning to find Sophia gone. Just poof! Vanished without a trace. Jessie was the one there to pick up the pieces, and hell, I didn't ask her to!" He roars. However, I'm pretty sure downstairs couldn't hear, which I was grateful for.

"Well sorry that Sophia left you! It's not my fault you don't know which girls to pick that are right for you!" She retaliates.

"You're unbelievable! What's wrong with her that you don't like?! She's been through hell and back and yet do you think she needs this? She died Ruth! Jessica died! I watched in horror as that monitor line went straight!"

"How did she die Liam?! She's right outside, breathing and functioning if I may add!"

"You see that little boy out there," I hurry into Liam's room and softly put Jakob on the bed and pillows around him so he doesn't fall. I put down the diaper bag as well and rush back into the hallway and down to the last door where it's slightly cracked open. I sneak a look and see Liam pointing to the door, practically up in her face, his neck vain prominent. Oh, he's pissed.

"That little boy out there isn't hers. She used to babysit him. His mother, one of her only friends, was murdered and Jessie saved him from the sick man that did it." He spits. "I was the person she called for help and luckily I got there in time. And let me tell you, I'm glad I did. You have no idea about any of this because I told Mom and Dad not to tell you squat because you'd probably end up gossiping about it anyways, Ruth! She's been through enough!"

"Who are you to be talking! You told her that her dead freaking brother chose to turn to the forces and freaking die rather than be with her! While dating the girl she envied because she had you and you didn't pay 2 shits to even look at her!"

"Ruth Payne!" I gasp as I turn around to find Karen, looking pissed as well. "She didn't mean any of it love, I assure you." She whispers to me before disappearing into the room, closing the door behind her.

I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry.

I chant. I will not cry because one, I don't want to be like a crybaby and cry for every little insult that gets thrown my way.

However, that wasn't a little insult was it...

Two, because I've cried enough. I've cried way passed my limits.

So I turn away from the door and slowly walk back to Liam's room with water clouding my eyes, but I won't let them spill. When I enter the room, Jakob is still sleeping and the room is warm, which I'm thankful for because it gives me a better sense of welcoming me in. I didn't want to wake Jake from his slumber, so I sat on the window seat and looked out at Wolverhampton's empty streets.

I shouldn't have come. And I mean I really shouldn't have come. All of this wouldn't have happened and Liam could be having a merry time with his family on this Christmas. Not arguing with his sister and being stressed out. I don't want to be a burden to him. I knew this was a bad idea and that I just wouldn't be accepted by one. It lowers my self esteem really. It just proves to me that I'm not as likeable as I thought. And that I'm still just the depressed girl who's lost in the world.

I guess my thoughts kept my ears running as well because I didn't even notice Liam come in. He snakes his arms around me from the back and rests his head on my shoulder.

"I'm so sorry-"

"You don't have to say sorry for anything Liam. I should be saying sorry. I'm the one that caused this-" I can feel him shaking his head behind me.

"Stop..."

"Obviously, I'm the home wrecker here-"

"Jessica, stop it."

"I just shouldn't have come and stayed home..... Let you be happy."

"Damn it Jess, please just stop." He puts his forehead on my shoulder. "Stop. It's not your fault. Ruth is just being a bitch today."

"Don't say that about you sister."

"But it's true. She always acts like this when I try to introduce someone into the family. It's like she doesn't even care how I feel when this happens. She just spits it all out. We've been doing fine and now she just decides to act retarded about this." He sighs. I turn around and hug him. He hugs me back tightly and we just stay there.

"You don't still hate me for what I said about your brother, do you?" He whispers. I smile slightly and look up at him.

"I don't think I'd be your girlfriend if I hated you." I kiss his nose. "We're doing this together remember?" He nods.

"Together."
