I lay in my bed peacefully sleeping. Not a noise in the house could wake me up. The dark room was lit by the street lights outside. My eyes opened slightly to see a shadow move across my room. My nerves were on high alert. I gasped for air as I realized the shadow wasn't coming from outside but inside my room. I was paralized with fear, my heart racing a hundred miles an hour. That is until the person behind the shadow stepped into the dim light. His hazel eyes shimmered with deep emotion. The mop like hair swayed with his motion. I sat up in my bed and and switched the light on. My eyes blurred for a moment.
"Frank, what are you doing here?" I asked in a hushed whisper. I then saw he'd been crying again, his eyes red and looked sore. His flushed face had no expression on it. It was painfully perfect. He sat down on the side of my bed and sighed. It was deadly quiet for long moments before he turned to me.
"Run away with me." He offered the one thing that I wanted most in life. I wanted to get away from this place, these people that are mean to me. I wanted to get away from my family. And he was offering it to me. How could I say no? But I can't say yes.
"I can't. There's school and work. And the baby. Plus it's wrong." I made excuses to stay but they were really good excuses. Frank's hazel gaze lit up as he touched my hand and stood. His touch sent me reeling, that's my weakness. His touch.
"There's nothing wrong with running away and never looking back." He said in an encouraging voice. I smiled at his remark.
"I want to run away so badly, but where will we go, where will we live?" I asked general questions. He narrowed his gaze at me before frowning. I saw tears begin to roll down his face again. He was upset and hurt. Frank sat back down on my bed.
"Frankie, what happened?" I asked softly. My hand on his shoulders. His sobs were soft but painful. Nothing hurt more than hearing the one you love cry and not be able to do anything about it.
"My mom kicked me out." He sobbed. I sighed and cursed under my breath.
"Come here." I instructed and gestured him to come lay beside me. He did, I pulled the blanket over us and hugged him close. His gaze was set down at my twenty week old baby belly. I felt his hands rub it gently, the little girl kicked hard against me. His brightly lit eyes flickered up at me with a toothful smile. He's never felt her kick before so this moment when he's at his lowest she kicked to make him feel better.
