10. Birthdays

I got up at 4am and decided not to wake Braxton. My back was slightly in pain but nothing I couldn't handle. I changed into a pair of dark jeans and a light blue hoodie, I also put on a pair of black vans and tied my waves into a ponytail.

I decided I should go to the pack side of the palace because it's almost time for the kids to start getting up for school.
"Hello, Alpha Drew" one of the ladies who packed the children's lunches said to me.
"Hello, Cara, do you need any help?" I asked her
"If you would like to help you can, it's just me today, Piper is sick today" she smiled at me and i began to pack the lunches into the correct bags.

Only children from age 6-9 get their lunches made, there were only about 45 kids in that age range so it wasn't that big of a deal, we had the chefs and a few moms help out every morning to help things go along smoothly.
"Alpha" I heard a small voice say. I looked down to my left and saw a girl, about the age of 7 starting at me
"Hello Annabell" I smiled at her, she smiled back at me very brightly. I handed her her lunch bag and waited for the rest of the children.

After the small children were out the door the older kids came into the kitchen and started to cook breakfast for themselves, the little kids go to school earlier than the kids 13-17 I don't really know why but that's just how it's always been.

"Hi Drew" Zander came walking into the kitchen rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Hey buddy" I smiled at him, children don't have to go to school until they are 6.
"What are we doing today?" He looked up at me.
"I don't know, I have a little bit of paperwork to do" I said to him
"Can I help?" He asked excitedly
"You are my assistant alpha" I said slyly and he laughed.
"Go eat breakfast and then come to my office." I said to him and then went to my office.

I went back to my office and shut the door.
"Why did you leave me?" Braxton's voice sounded from behind me
"I did not want to wake you" I said back. I turned around and he was leaned against my desk with his hands crossed over his chest and he looked just as handsome as he does any other day.
"You could've at least left a note" he said to which I chuckled
"I'm sorry, Alpha Braxton" he growled at my reply pulled me to him and crashed his lips to mine.

I responded to the kiss because my wolf was begging me to. He pushed my against my desk and griped tightly on my waist. I honestly don't know why we keep doing this. We just randomly will make out but we've never talked about the future at all and I just don't know what he wants from me.

He must've noticed I was distracted because he pulled away from the kiss.
"What's wrong?" He asked me, while placing a hand on my cheek. His deep blue eyes looked deeply into mine.
"Nothing" I shook my head
"Do you not want me?" He asked the look in his eyes was so saddening
"No it's not that..." I began to say but then the door opened.
"Oh! Sorry Drew" I heard a very surprised Mary say.

I looked away from Braxton and looked at Mary,
"No it's fine. Is there something you need?" I asked her
"I just brought you your breakfast" she smiled with a tray in her hands.
"Thank you Mary" I smiled at her and she placed the tray on the table that also held my alcohol and left.
"I have to go" Braxton told me and then left my office.

I ate my regular breakfast and started doing some paperwork like always and waited for Zander. I finished my work I just sat back in my chair and started to think.

I almost forgot that Zander's birthday is tomorrow. This is a problem, how could've I forgotten? I have to have a party for him, better yet, a ball. I'm sure people are wondering why I am so invested in this small child, it's because he reminds me of someone that was so dear to me.

I started planning the ball for him, which is very last minute but I had little to no problems with it. But the food was a bit challenging, but his mom and the other children were very excited for the ball. I was currently on the phone with Zander's mother,
"So I'll have someone come over at 4 to tailor him a suit" I told her
"Thank you so much for this, Alpha" she said through the phone.
"It's my pleasure" I said to her and then we both hung up
