6. Kiss and Makeup

I woke up about 4 hours after I fell asleep and decided to go and work on some work to get it over it for the day. I changed into a pair of jeans and a blue v-neck and I slipped on some sneakers

I decided to look around the pack section of the castle.
"Drew!" I heard a familiar squeal of a certain little boy
"Zander! What in the world are you doing up at 4am?!" I crouched down to be at eye level with the young child.
"I couldn't sleep, but I smelt you and had to come see you, friend!" He laughed and gave me a hug around the neck I hugged him back while chuckling lightly. This little boy brings so much joy to me.

"Where is your parents?" I asked him
"They are sleeping I think" he put his hands on his hips, as if he was thinking about it.
"Well, if you promise to not tell your parents about this...would you want to come and get ice cream down stairs with me?" I asked him and his eyes sparkled
"I won't say a word, Alpha" he made an imaginary zipper with his fingers over his mouth and acted like he threw away the key.
"Okay buddy" I chuckled

We both walked down stairs his small hand in mine. I made up both a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup drizzled on top with a little dollop of whip cream.
"Thank you friend!" Zander smiled up at me with chocolate on his face
"Anytime friend" I smiled back at him.

I cleaned our bowls once we were finished
"Now you have to go back to bed" I picked Zander from his spot on the counter and placed him on my hip.
"Can I just stay the rest of the night with you like a sleep over!?" He asked excitedly
"I have to go do some work in my office" I said to him, he frowned
"Can I come with? I can read a book, or I could help you!" He looked excited again
"Fine, but you are going to get me in so much trouble little boy" I laughed and he joined in.

About an hour later Zander is passed out on the leather couch in my office with a book in his lap. I slowly took the book away and laid him on his side, and used the fluffy blanket I kept on the couch to cover up his body. Then I continued to work on pack stuff.

Around 7am Mary came in my office with breakfast for me, which was the same old, fruit, granola, and lemonade.
"Thank you Mary" I whispered trying to wake the sleeping child. This is my routine, get up at 4ish work for 3 hours, Mary brings me breakfast at 7am, I work for 6 more hours until Mary brings me lunch at 1pm and I eat and then go to training with the other pack members, after that I usually go to the garden and sit for an hour or two drawing or painting for relaxation. Then at nightfall I'll go for a run or join in on the patrols, this has been my routine for a few months and everyone knows it.

I finished my breakfast and Xander was still fast asleep at 8am. I them heard a knock at the door,
"Come in" my voice was still very soft
"Um, Alpha" I looked to see Rachel in a frantic mood.
"Yes Rachel?" I asked
"I can't find Zander anywhere and I'm worried" she hasn't looked anywhere else in the room but my eyes
"I'm very sorry Rachel, i forgot to tell you. Zander is right over there, he couldn't sleep last night so he came and slept on the couch, I'm sorry again for not remembering to tell you" I smiled sheepishly
"Oh, thank you alpha!" She looked so relived when her eyes landed on her sleeping baby.
"Do you need me to carry him to his room?" I asked, she looked very brittle and weak
"Oh it's no problem I don't need to drag you from your work" she refused my offer
"It's no problem Rachel" I insisted picking the small boy in my arms and his arms instantly going around my neck and snuggling into my chest I smiled slightly and started the journey to his room.

"Thank you, Alpha, so much" Rachel thanked me for the millionth time
"It's really no problem, Rachel. He's welcome in my office anytime he pleases. I enjoy his company" I smiled at her
"You are very nurturing, Alpha" she commented
"Only for the children" I glanced at the, still sleeping, boy.
"I should be going now" I smiled at her and left.
