Will.
Half an hour later I’m staring at Alyssa as she talks to Katy, sat in Niall’s garden on the grass. I’m stood at the kitchen door waiting for Niall to come back from the pizza shop, and so far I’ve been hiding out in the kitchen.
But it’s time to stop hiding.
I slowly, casually walk out of the door to them. They’re just talking, normally, with their back to me, and they haven’t seen me yet, so I decide to be as subtle as possible.
“. . . yeah, I guess,” Alyssa is saying slowly.
Katy laughs, her blonde head shaking. “It’s not really that fun though.”
Alyssa stays silent.
I wonder what they’re talking about.
“God, where is Will?” Katy asks aloud.
Alyssa shrugs.
I walk up to the back of Katy and crouch down, then grab her shoulders and yell, “Boo!”
Alyssa jumps, and Katy shouts out, “Oh my God!”
I laugh evilly and sit down opposite them, pulling Katy’s hair playfully.“I’ll get you back,” she grins, shaking her head.
I look at Alyssa, who is still clutching her heart, breathing slightly quicker than usual.
I wink at her, and grin as her cheeks fill with colour. She looks so cute when she blushes.
“Niall isn’t back yet?” Katy enquires.
I shake my head. “They must be busy because they can’t deliver today as well.”
“I was wondering why he didn’t just order a delivery.” Katy shrugs.
There’s an awkward silence for a few seconds.
“So, what shall we do?” I ask generally.
Alyssa shakes her head.
“Do you wanna play truth or dare? I’ve got it on my phone,” Katy says.
Alyssa frowns. “On your phone? How?”
“It’s an iPhone,” Katy informs her, taking it out. “I’ve got an app which chooses the people randomly and asks the questions, says the dares.”“Show off,” I joke.
She flashes me a dirty look. “Yes or no?”
“Yes,” Alyssa and I say in unison.I grin and she taps our names into her phone, then shakes it.
“OK . . .” she looks at it. “Will! Truth or dare?”
I tap my chin. “Um . . . truth.”
She looks at the phone. “OK. Um . . . OK. Who is your celebrity crush?”
I pull a face. “I can tell these questions are gonna be really lame, standard ones.”Alyssa smiles.
“Answer it, Will,” Katy says sharply.
“I don’t know!” I protest.
She narrows her eyes.
“I’m not gonna answer it,” I say stubbornly. “I don’t really have a celebrity crush.” But I can tell you now, if Alyssa was a celebrity, I would. “Ask me another.”
“Niall should so be here . . .” she mutters, shaking her head. She taps the phone. “OK, another truth. Which player is the best looking?”
Damn it. What do I say to that? I can’t just blow my cover and tell the truth.“Uh . . .” I run a hand through my hair. “I’m sorry, I’m gonna have to say me.”
Alyssa grins and Katy and I laugh.
