I sipped my champagne as I watched Allison's sheer green dress sway along the ballroom floor. The man she was with smiled down at her with a strange look in his eye.
"Do not interrupt your friend, Mouse." Goliath murmured into my ear. His nearness made me jump as tingles shot through me. I clamped my thighs together as tight as possible, hoping to prevent him from smelling my definite attraction. "It seems, your lovely friend has found her soul mate."
"What are you?" I whispered.
"My great grandfather was one of the original Shifters. He was there when the gods cursed man. He bore a son, with an angel. His son, Dragda, had three children, each a different kind of shifter. My father, Kiel, and my mother, Ariel, had me a few hundred years ago. My siblings are, much much younger."
"Doesn't answer my question."
He looked into my eyes with a wicked smile, "I am a purebred dragon." And I swear to the gods, his eyes burned with a red fire I'd never seen before.

By the time I lay down in bed, my feet were swollen and tired. Sleep escaped me, my thoughts drifting toward Him. He had never told me his name, so I decided Goliath suited the overly large male just fine.
He had shown a new side of himself tonight. Especially while conversing with his people. They all seemed to love him.
'Do not confuse yourself, I am a harsh ruler and an even harsher person. These people think it fair, they respect it.' He had said. 'A good ruler will make the hard decisions for his people. Keep that in mind.'
His hand had strayed to my lower back as we travelled through the ballroom, greeting guests and making introductions. The tingles I had felt, were unlike anything I had previously known. I craved him. I needed his touch.
So I had excused myself early, with the complaint of stomach pains. He had watched me leave the room, and even tried to follow until another guest interrupted.
Now, cuddled under the thick brown duvet, I prayed to the gods for sleep. He would not leave my mind.
I doubted he would leave my dreams.
A large body crawled onto the oversized bed.
I doubt he would ever leave me alone.
"Come to me, little one."
A shiver tore through my body as I lay on my back, refusing to move. Refusing to succumb to him.
"Why did you leave so early? Is something bothering you?" He whispered. I felt a large calloused hand travel down the side of my face gently. The hand traveled to my jaw, tingles fading in its wake before tracing the tattoos along my chest.
"Do you know how wonderful it felt to touch you tonight?"
His hand moved up to my neck, before grabbing it in a painful grip. My hands came up to tug at his as I flailed on the mattress. He pulled his body onto mine, forcing my legs apart before settling between them as I gasped for breath.
I felt his hardness pressed against me, and I couldn't hold back my moan.
"You like this?" He whispered as though he was shocked. I felt the world fading away, and I cursed the tingles that were still spreading through me, the wetness between my legs.
Goddess, I actually enjoyed this. His lips pressed against my neck, just above where his hand tore the breath from me. "Make no mistake, Pet. You are mine."
One second he was touching me, He was out of my room the next leaving me cold, bruised, and wanting.
