As the council dispersed to their respective rooms, Elric turned to me.
"You told me you were leaving me tonight, yet you tell them you're leaving in a few months."
"I feel as though I have a spy on my council, darling. I will be leaving with my warriors within the hour. You, my dear, are to watch over our kingdom until my return."
"And when you return?" I whispered.
"When I return, we will wed, and I will finally mark you as mine. My dragon has been demanding I leave our mark on your luscious skin, but I have held back. I need to set a good example for our people, and be strong. I expect you willing, and spread eagerly for me upon my arrival."
"What if I want you to take me before you leave?"
"Who am I to deny my queen what her heart desires?"
With a giggle I stood, which was admittedly quite slow, and allowed Goliath to place me on the edge of the table. The dress was pulled up past my hips and just as Elric was freeing himself of his bottoms, the doors opened. With a curse he positioned himself so I was covered.
"Terribly sorry for the interruption, your highness. The witch is here."
"What witch?" Elric growled. My mood instantly lifted as I struggled off the table and fixed the dress.
"My witch, Goliath." I whispered as I rushed as fast as possible toward where I knew she would be waiting, Elric hot on my heels.
"Why, in the gods names, have you invited a witch into our castle?"
"She's a dear friend of mine, we met a few hundred years ago. I want her to read my belly."
"Do you not understand how dangerous that is-"
"Syndra?"
I shrieked as small dainty arms tried to wrap around my middle.
"Dear lords you are gigantic! What brute knocked you up?"
Elric cleared his threat and glared down at us. My best friend, aside from Allison, stood before me in nothing but a thin black robe made of near translucent material. Her kind were never fond of clothes, preferring to roam the world nearly naked.
Her long blonde hair sat in waves down her back, her purple eyes shining in amusement.
A horn sounded in the distance.
"I must leave, mouse. Remember what I said and remember that you are the only person I've ever had the pleasure of loving." His lips smashed on mine, a collision of heated passion and love. The tingles lingered long after he'd left the sanctuary.
Eve led me towards the growing willow tree and helped me sit. I could feel Regan looking for me. Elric had left him behind.
"Now, I want to tell you that although I am experienced, I'm going to need some information before we begin."
"Oh Eve how I've missed you." I gushed. Her warm smile helped me relax.
"How many moons has it been since you found out?"
"According to the doctor I am only four short-"
"Four? Your man is a drago is he not?"
"Yes. A pure blood."
"You lucky bitch." Eve joked as she leaned over and placed her hands on my bulge. She hummed, and I felt the air around me shimmer. "Your abilities, how have they been affected?"
"I can feel my power, but it's as if she is feeding off it. I grow weaker as the days go by."
"Have you mentioned this to him?"
"Elric? Never. He would never let me go about the castle. I'd be bed ridden."
"I see. Do you mind if I-"
"No, by all means make yourself comfortable."
Eve laughed as she moved to lay her head in my lap. Her ear pressed against my stomach, both hands rubbing soothingly. I felt a lot of movement in the next few moments. As if she were responding to Eve's touch.
"What the hell is going on here?" Regan bellowed as he walked through the cave entrance.
"Would you mind shutting your loud mouth you beast?" Eve hissed as she pressed slightly harder against me. "I'm trying to listen."
I felt my heart beat quicken, and suddenly everything stopped. Eve moved away, the baby settled, and Regan had taken to sitting on my other side and glaring at Eve.
"One thing is for sure, they miss their Dad." Eve laughed.
"I'm sorry, did you say they?" I sputtered.
"Oh yes, I had to triple check, but I sense three very strong, very powerful beings growing in your womb. They're old souls, Syn. Souls come back to us from many eons ago." Eve's purple eyes had taken on a white hue as she reached toward the ground, "they're here, born of a king and a gifted, to bring peace to the lands. Your son, oh this is wonderful. You will be so proud, Syn. Your daughter is stunning, just like you." Suddenly her face fell.
"What? Eve, tell me." I begged.
"Something is wrong. Oh Syn. My dear friend, I'm terribly sorry but I cannot say any more. I fear I've already said too much." Her eyes slowly faded back to their original color.
Regan sat in nearly as much shock as I. Three.. I had begged the gods for a child, and they had graced me with three?
