I had to call into work, because I was held up at the CPP. Thankfully my boss and I are pretty close, so she believed me when I told her. Then again she also knew it was my birthday and knew I would get my companion today.

I worked at a hole in the wall coffee shop in downtown Louisville called Grind House. Most of the people that come in are regulars, because well, it's kind of a secret specialty. My grandparents weren't thrilled at me getting the job in this area, which I totally disagreed with. Even though the area is questionable, but I've been going there for years. The place is like a second home, with the constant scent of coffee rooted in the walls, and the mis-matched furniture that gave the shop it's character.

When I had finally pulled into the parking lot, it was nearly 3:30 and the late afternoon rush was starting. I quickly rushed in after letting Cami and Cameron of of the car. They stayed right on my heels as I went in the back entrance, grabbed my apron and name tag, and was washing my hands.

"Lizzy! I'm here!" As soon as the words had left my mouth, I heard a squeal behind me and my life was being squeezed out. "Lizzy....can't....breathe," I gasped. Lizzy was like my second mom, or third I guess. Her dark curly hair was always pulled into a pony tail, as well as her elf like face made her seem like she was a little mischievous, but still a trustworthy person. She was always there when I needed her.

There was a warning bark that came from behind me. Lizzy turned and saw Cami semi crouched down, looking ready for a fight. Cameron was in a similar position, but not nearly as bristled.

"Oh, my God. There are two of them! What-how?" she sounded almost scared. "Em, there's two of them!"

I chuckled slightly, "I know, but I don't know why. The scientists at the CPP said that they had never seen it happen before." I had since calmed the pups down and let them know that she was a friend, and Cami was begging for attention now that she knew Lizzy wasn't a threat.

'You know, I think I trust her. I don't think it will be a problem if she knows the truth.' Cami suggested, not at all hostile like she was 45 seconds ago.

'I can still hear what you're saying. Mind link remember.'

'Shut up.' I stuck my tongue out at my companion before turning back to my boss. I was about to tell her the truth about Cameron, when Addie was talking to me too.

'I think we should tell as few people as possible. If people are questioned, I don't want them to have a reason to get to the people that care about us.'

'That's a fair point. But, just to let you know, there are some people that I won't be able to keep this from.'

'I know. Just try to keep as few people as possible involved.'

'Okay, I'll try.'

"Em, are you okay. You look conflicted," Lizzy was looking at me worriedly, her hand slightly outstretched to touch my arm.

I shook my head to clear it and smiled, "Yep, I'm okay. How busy has it been today?"

She looked as if she wanted to say something else, but she seemed to let it slip and smiled back." It's been really busy today, I don't think you'll be able to work on the designs, we're probably going to need you to make drinks instead."

I followed her into the main area of the shop, trying to remember the syrup and chocolate ratios of all of the different drinks. Usually I worked on the designs that went on drinks. Lizzy even gave me my own sets of tools and stencils, she really is one of the best people.

I had been working for over an hour and the crowd had simmered down a lot. Even to the point that I could go back to the foam and cream designs. I was feeling artsy and had decided to dye the milk different colors, swirl them together and make designs out of that.
