Standing right there, acting like he ruled the world was none other than Asher. I rolled my eyes at him before walking closer. "What have I told you about calling me that? If I wasn't clear enough, I can always see how you feel about being kicked in the nuts." I told him sweetly.
Instead of behaving differently like a normal person, he just smiled and walked closer to me. He stopped a couple feet in front of me and crossed his arms over his chest. Kain was perched on his shoulder looking beautiful and sleek. "Why didn't you text me? I thought you were supposed to text me." His voice took on a wounded effect as his bottom lip pouted.
I rolled my eyes at his before responding, "Excuse me for not texting you immediately, something came up. I've been busy the last couple days, and then... well, this so."
"Speaking of this. Why are you here? It doesn't really seem like your crowd, not that I'm complaining."
"Well it seems that I will be joining you here from now on, along with The Trials next year." I spoke softly and looked at the ground, trying my best to keep the sadness out of my voice. I don't think it worked, because the next thing I knew Asher's strong arms were wrapped around me in a tight hug. I didn't know how to react, so I didn't. I just tucked my head against his chest and let it happen without hugging back. I also felt Kain's soft feathers brush against the back of my head. I looked up to see him stretching a wing out to touch me.
"I'm so sorry Sunshine, this isn't what I wanted happening." Asher apologized and pulled away from the hug with his hands still on my shoulders. I'm not really sure if it's possible, but Kain even looked sad. "No don't cry, I really won't know what to do if that happens." There was concern and also a tiny bit of fear pooling in his eyes.
I didn't even know that I had started crying again, but I laughed slightly and scrubbed my cheeks with the sleeve of my sweatshirt. "Don't apologize for something you had nothing to do with. I'll just have to get over it. Now, is there a purpose for you standing down here, or is it just a coincidence, even though I don't believe in coincidences."
It was his turn to laugh, "No, I do have a purpose, I'm here to give the new student a tour. It's tradition here, the last 'new student' has to give the next one the tour, unless the two came really close together."
"Of course, it seems your just going to be a thorn in my foot from now on." I joked.
"A very attractive and charming thorn, yes." He gave me a wicked grin.
I rolled my eyes and turned back around to see Mr. Reiner standing and waiting for me. He smiled slightly before waving at both of us to follow him. I trailed behind him, not turning around to see if Asher followed.
My escort led me to a very posh and expensive looking office, where there were multiple people tapping away at the smart screens. We went to the desk and stopped in front of a lady in her mid-thirties. She looked up as we approached and gave us a warm smile.
"Good afternoon Jade, this is Emelia Alexa Harllow, she is transferring in a couple days and would like to get a schedule set up." I was glad Mr. Reiner spoke for me since I'm currently unable to function.
'I think currently is an understatement, you would have to have been normal at some point to function correctly. As far as I can remember, you've never been able to function.' Adriana stated mildly, as if everyone should know.
'Please, not the time. I would like to appreciate your jokes more when am not talking about leaving my friends, and going to a place I really don't want to go.' I whisper yelled in my head. I didn't really know if that was possible, but I hoped it was.
'Geez fine, I thought you would be happy since you got to see your crush, and he even hugged you!'
'I don't have a crush on him!' This time I really did yell at her in my mind, and it was only when Asher tapped my shoulder did I notice Jade had asked me a question. 'Great thanks, now you made me look rude.'
