Barry's pov

"I can't believe we're actually doing this," Cassidy whispers, nervously looking around.

"Calm down Cass. You're starting to sound like my mum," Carter whines, "all she ever does is worry. She's going to freak when me and Pipes aren't there in the morning."

"My parents will probably be mad at me. That's the only emotion they ever seem to feel towards me lately," I says softly. I feel Cassidy gently place her hand on my shoulder in sympathy.

"Sorry I'm late guys!" Jasper calls, jogging up, "dad decided to play drums for a while. I ended up sneaking out before he fell asleep, which means that we really need to get moving."

"Okay. The bus station is about a mile to walk from here," Piper directs, pointing us in the right direction.

"But Piper," Jasper whines, "there's a station literally two minutes down the street."

"But everyone will be expecting that we take that one, won't they? And if they go there, then the person working the desk will know exactly who we are. This one is much more crowded for one. But we are still going to buy two different tickets each. That way they have a decision to make if they decide to track us," Piper explains as we walk. None of us doubt her plan. She was without a doubt the smartest of all of us. If anyone was to have a plan, it would be Piper.

"Barry, Carter, and I are going to go up and buy our tickets now. Remember we're buying one to San Francisco and one to New York City," Piper advises.

"And we're going to San Fran?" I ask. She shakes her head no, but give no further explanation. Instead, she pulls out a really old flip phone.

"That's the first phone we ever had," Carter points out. She nods and opens it up, pretending to talk even though it doesn't work. Carter and I follow obediently behind her.

"Listen here, Jay- no-" Piper starts up a fake conversation as we approach the ticket stand. The guy gives us a bored look.

"I need three tickets to San Francisco, stat," Piper demands. Then she goes back to her imaginary conversation while the man prints out the tickets. She passes him thirty dollars then marches away, not checking to see if we're following first.

"Go buy yours to San Francisco," she instructs Cassidy and Jasper. They follow her directions.

"Why'd we only get the San Francisco tickets?" Cassidy questions, both tickets in her hand.

"I'll explain in a minute. Boys, head to the family bathroom now. Cass and I will be right behind you," Piper orders. Once more, none of us bother arguing or challenging her.

~

"Why are we all in a family bathroom?" Jasper questions, asking what we were all thinking.

"We have to change our look. Which means," Piper pauses, taking a deep breath, "that we all need to dye our hair." I was shocked. Piper had sworn to never dye her beloved brunette hair back when we were kids and Uncle Michael was babysitting us and volunteering to dye our hair.

"I already have colors picked out for us all. Please, don't conplain. I am already upset enough by this. And we're buying the New York tickets after our hair is dyed," she explains, passing a box of pink dye to Cassidy, who grins and tears open the box.

"Cass, I assume your dad has taught you how to dye hair so if you can help-"

"Say no more, Pipes. This is my specialty!" Cassidy exclaims, clearly happy about this. Uncle Michael hadn't let her dye her hair in about a month. She was beyond ready for a change of color.

"So," Cassidy asks, smiling, "who's first?"
